Spyker F1 have decided to skip the Sepang test and rather test new components from their base in England.
Chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne says that the rationale behind this is that the team would not have enough time to adequately test new innovations which were developed at the team's Aerolab. The modifications to the F8-VII car include new barge boards, sidepod inlets, revised bodywork and a revised diffuser. "With the upgrades we're planning to introduce for the second race, it would not be possible to get them onto the car in time for the Sepang test," said Gascoyne. "The race cars will be shipped direct to Malaysia from Australia, but the team will be flat out modifying the cars in time for the Grand Prix." Gascoyne also explained how missing the Sepang test will not hinder the team's progress. He added: "Participating in the Malaysia test would stretch our resources; we're a small team and we have to pay careful attention to how we allocate the budget. "We would only run one car without the modifications for three days, but we know the track, we know the tyres and with the extra running time afforded by the Friday practice days now, we will get an opportunity to run the new bodywork before the racing starts. "Missing the test will not put us at a disadvantage." |

Sadly for you I disagree. He is by far the best and most consistent Asian driver out there, and can hold his own. Considering that he managed to wrestle a car with faulty steering to third place in the LeMans series (Team Racing for Holland), he seems more capable of more than anyone give credit for

And thus why do some ppl still have this kind of grudge on him? He's showing what Asian drivers can do, and unlike Sato or Yamamoto who is in F1 just solely to sell Honda cars, he really have the skills. and if not for him, there will be no Junior Formula in Malaysia to search for more talents. Give him a break dude. It's not his fault that his car was shitty in F1. And even in A1, many other more recognised driver like Thomas Enge and Jos "The Boss" finished consistently lower than him.

For me, no grudges.
I'm happy he wins at Brno...good for him. But I guess we want more. Win in Brno but then nowhere after that. Just like our national football team We're giving him 'kritikan membina' This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Mar 23 2007, 12:14 PM |
