QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Feb 2 2007, 12:23 PM) Boring my ass. Watch the opening laps of the '98 Belgian gp, or the closing stages of the '88 Italian gp, and compare that to F1 nowadays... Off topic but...how old r u man? and @ Amanda85 As far as i know linkin has always been a McLaren fan...unless i mistook who your post was referring to... Fastest car = best straight line speed will only apply if all the tracks are straight which is not the case.
Generally it's who has the best overall package in terms of straight line speed, aerodynamic grip (fast corners), mechanical grip (slow corners) and reliability that will determine which is the fastest car. |

I have to agree with linkin here. What Schumi has done for F1 is commendable but to say he's the best ever and that only he showed the level of tenacity he did...one couldn't be more wrong. The cars now are much safer and way easier to drive. You gotta have real balls to be willing to drive an F1 car in the past...and it was all manual gear shifting and no traction control like u have these days.

QUOTE(eXyzt @ Mar 12 2007, 10:23 PM) wouldn't giving the race winner a bigger advantage make the gap wider between the top and the middle? then it'll make races become more boring towards the end of the season... Some races are already boring because of the current points system. The fact that there were more exciting races back then when the points system was 10-6-4-3-2-1 proves that. It gives incentive for drivers to go for a race win instead of playing it safe.i prefer the current system more because it gives more drivers points. I've always think it's unfair that drivers that finish 9th and below scores nothing. Why should drivers that finish 9th and below be given points?? I think finishing 8th and getting points is already being very generous. This is a competitive sport not a free points candy store. This post has been edited by verx: Mar 13 2007, 10:39 AM |

QUOTE(eXyzt @ Mar 13 2007, 05:56 PM) in that case, the teams finishing 9th and below have no incentive to continue, do they? unless there's a monetary benefit to actually finish a race rather than stop in the middle... If there is any driver who thinks there is more incentive to stop in the middle rather than finish a race then imo he doesn't deserve to drive an F1 car. It comes down to sportsmanship at the end. It's like saying a football team that is losing 5-0 should just leave the pitch since there is no incentive to continue playing. And btw sponsors do provide F1 teams with alot of money and they do expect something in return. Getting as much airtime as possible is never a bad thing. So there's the monetary incentive for u. |

It's hard to compare the times from diff seasons because the rule changes always have an effect on the pace of the cars. We'll know who stands where tomorrow.

QUOTE(linkinstreet @ Mar 17 2007, 03:35 PM) 2 sponsors for the damn race and you still says RTM don't have money? It's hard to tell. BMW did show signs in pre-season that they have a quick car. We'll know tomorrow.anyways, who has the feeling that the McLaren was sandbagging and the BMW was light on fuel? |

I think the biggest joke is that Super Aguri are using a modified Honda 2006 chassis and they have so much more pace than the Honda car itself. If it was possible to develop a new car slower than your previous one, Honda just proved that

Normal day in the office then for F1. Kimi was favourite to win so no surprises there. Good day for McLaren as well. At least we aren't that far behind the Ferrari in terms of pace.

QUOTE(KimRoss @ Mar 18 2007, 01:22 PM) Suzuka 2005' Overtook someone on the last lap to win the race. Alonso was not extremely lucky. His strategy favoured him.Started last Good race, Kimi raced a clean race from start to finish. [ cept that one part where he went too deep ] - [ ITV crew asked him why he said he was lookin elsewhere ] Alonso, EXTREMELY lucky to be 2nd. Come'on, admit it, if it wasn't for Sato blocking Hamilton just before his pitstop, Alonso would have been 3rd. Hamilton, what can I say, great debut. Starting was superb. Really loves to throw his car around, on the rugged edge. Could have gotten 2nd place, but for Takuma Sato [Asstard] , lost to his teammate in the end, but a podium on a F1 Debut is great. Even Kimi got 6th on this debut with Sauber a long time ago. Other Highlights : Coultard nearly takes Wurz head off with his [ Great ] overtaking manouver. Button has a race he would like to forget, with a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pit lane |

QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Mar 18 2007, 01:25 PM) if sato didnt take away the second away from hamilton, might be different story Boy do some ppl like to talk without facts.anyway one man lucky sure another unlucky Even if Sato wasn't there it wouldn't have made a difference. If i need to explain this then u clearly haven't got to grips with how pit strategies work. |
