Would you be able to discern the differences during normal home use between RAM size and wireless speed? laugh.gif
The RAM size does make a difference when you're running DLNA, FTP, VPN, downloading torrents through the Download Master & other extra functions

The extra 128MB RAM will allow you to use more functionality all at the same time

I just wonder if we could upgrade the RAM by replacing the BGA chip like in the age of RT-N16 hmm.gif

By the way, I'm not saying the WS880 is a bad router. It's a very good router, I'm just stating the differences between the 2 routers, that's all smile.gif

Flash it to stock China firmware. You will lose the unifi preset, but you still can set the vlan manually and also the dns server.

oh, then i better flash the asuswrt

Nobody will re-flash with original Huawei firmware.

Beautiful GUI, highly stable, easier to find everything, free DDNS & the capability of using the Asus Router app

Why upgrade RAM when you can just use a swapfile?

https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wik...-2-Asus-routers the last part there. I'm already out of RAM when doing my rsync backups, so that helped a lot.

Of course it won't perform as well as if you had 256MB RAM. But suits my purpose for it.

Can we revert back to stock firmware? Just in case
Is there a tutorial for it, or can we backup current firmware version to be restored later

Ah forgot to mention, Xwrt-Vortex, the latest version available.. Sadly it's kinda weird for me. It only works properly if i have my another wireless router turn on doh.gif.. if not after a while it just become unaccessable doh.gif

Hang on, let me check if I also have that issue by hiding both my 2.4GHz & 5.0GHz SSID
Will get back to you

Addendum: How long did it take for the router to hang / die?
