IP address 192.168.3.1 is the WS880 router default IP address, no need change anything.

just to know other solution, if you still can not enter the recovery mode, can you set your network speed to 100 Mbps Full Duplex of your lan before proceed

[attachmentid=7059805]

And also you can ping the IP 192.168.1.1 to see any positive feedback before proceed

It is not the access to the router.

The damn thing just won't boot into recovery mode to load modified bootloader.

It always boot into the original Huawei firmware login page after the reset procedure. Like no reset at all. doh.gif

Most ASUS and TP-Link routers.

Please check for explicit Maxis Fibre support sticker at the box.

For custom firmware, yes, it will support Maxis Fibre by setting the appropriate VLAN tags.

For the original Huawei WS880 firmware, confirm cannot.

That's why I wonder whether I have got a faulty unit which cannot get to recovery mode to load modified bootloader.

Normal reset to factory default settings is OK using the reset button.

It even supports UNIFI and Maxis broadband out of the box
[attachmentid=7046151]

The speed is awesome, I can get full speed of UNIFI 30Mbps even I sit at the far corner of 1st floor while my router is sitting at the ground floor living room

This router is really value for money (just below RM200 price tag), and you can get an equivalence features and performance of Asus AC66U

Out of the box with original Huawei firmware, you could probably choose "Other" ISP profile and configure the VLAN settings for Maxis Fibre manually.

I haven't tried that because I am on Unifi. biggrin.gif

Did you hold the reset button for 20 secs while powering on the router?

Can this support Maxis fibre ?

If you want to use stock firmware, then you will have to update with firmware V100R001C01B035. Then you can manually set the VLAN 621 for the PPPoE. Not sure whether it can support the Astro IPTV, most likely not.

Otherwise you will have to flash it with custom firmware after flashing it with modified bootloader.

I am not using astro iptv, as long as the fibre broadband is working then is fine.

Are you using a paper clip to reset? I did that didn't work, try a small screwdriver. I had similar issues. Now its flashed with the Merlin firmware. It is kinda flaky to get in but eventually it does, even loading the firmware I had to perform many tries.

I nearly tried flashing it last night but did not have access to Windows OS.

Looking forward for your success before I venture into this.

I am still exploring how to enable the IPv6 la. Any ideas?
