Thanks for clarifying... Always confused that they are Allendale cause even most review websites assume that they are e6300 and e6400 are Allendale...

What cooler are you using atm? I think to unleash the power of 4 cores at 4GHz, might need a water-cooling setup.. else it is just way to hot to get a good OC out of it... Imagine cooling 2 Conroes using 1 HSF...

Heatsink.. Scynthe Infinity, Temperature as read through "core temp" software, Gigabyte own temperature sensor reading is only 50C at maximum, Heatsink itself still cool at around 25C
Price the same as X6800 for 4 instead of 2 cores, thou Q6400/Q6300 or the xeon X32xx series maybe more cost effective. There are more uses for cpu/cpus other than only for gaming. This post has been edited by BeastX: Nov 26 2006, 07:05 AM |

yup. i hardly play games, but i want your rig man.. We are all multi purpose people, we would like to open dreamweaver work on illustrator then go to photoshop while listening to music and downloading stuff, and sometimes may watch some movies while doing something else. While we are at it why not convert movie files to dvd, while we work on something else. Thats what dual core or quad core is for, by next year I'm sure most will soft will start utilizing the quads and sure to work well with vista.

The game that might used 4 cores is Alan Wake, which is yet to be released.
@BeastX, how much does Kentsfield cost you in RM? |

QUOTE(MaGicDust @ Nov 25 2006, 09:10 PM) hehe, yah... E6300 OC to >3Ghz not low-end already... considering some people who doesnt oc their cpu, its almost as fast as a x6800 at stock... haha.. I dont consider that as low end I mean compare to X6800 or C2E(kentsfield)... my C2D is the cheapest among Intel Core series d ler...and i always stay in mid-range instead of high end and low end... If low end leh... I mean p4 2.8... FSB 533 and below... my C2D might be high end for u but still not enough to play games like X3: Reunion... my GC summo not really high end... my rig is juz mid-range... and i juz spent RM2700 to get them... high end systems unit should worth RM6500 and above(to me la)... I tried playing COH on everything high also a bit lag... so my rig is not so high end and nothing to brag about... This post has been edited by t3chn0m4nc3r: Nov 27 2006, 11:18 AM |

QUOTE(MaGicDust @ Nov 25 2006, 04:18 AM) Quad core extremely hot wor... Wouldn't recommend quad cores yet. I think you can reach a higher clock speed with a conroe or allendale than kentsfield even though kentsfield got 4 cores as even at stock, kentsfield is already much hotter than a dual core cpu... I think should stay away from 4 cores until games and normal softwares become more threaded... As for now, its better to have a higher clockspeed than more cores in gaming... btw, its much cooler and takes less power too! Unless you are a benchie freak and want the highest score possible or cpu intensive stuffs such as renderings, encodings... i don intend to get Intel's new stuff... prefer mainstream stuff... |

QUOTE(Dead__Man @ Nov 25 2006, 11:30 PM) I'd like to note that the E6300 listed above are not Allendale's, those are still Conroe's that have half their L2 disabled. Allendale's are C2Ds that are natively 2Mb L2. So which is Allendale...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_2#Allendale |
