QUOTE(irenic @ Nov 21 2006, 04:31 PM) the most important thing is, where u bought it from? might be interested if the performance really effect real life applications and gamings.. i wont spend more than 3k for processor doesnt provide any significant advantage in real life.. over 3k for 2 processors actually (intel style glue),.. slightly cheaper than 2 e6700.. bought retail in Japan.. I mostly run linux, virtual machines, xen with windows/solaris OS. Data processing, a little video coding and some gaming |

overclocked to 3.5ghz.. still testing.. power supply problem delay things..
there are also xeons for socket 775 the x3220 and x3210.. that are essentially the same as q6600 and q6400 with the exception of better binnings at lower voltage. xeon x3230 = core 2 xtreme qx6700 xeon x3240 = 3.0GHz at 1333MHz FSB |

Single card.. on DS4 same as yours.. let me know if you can run sli on P965 chipset... what contribute to the score is the cpu score of 5170 |

Heatsink.. Scynthe Infinity, Temperature as read through "core temp" software, Gigabyte own temperature sensor reading is only 50C at maximum, Heatsink itself still cool at around 25C
Price the same as X6800 for 4 instead of 2 cores, thou Q6400/Q6300 or the xeon X32xx series maybe more cost effective. There are more uses for cpu/cpus other than only for gaming. This post has been edited by BeastX: Nov 26 2006, 07:05 AM |

at 3.4GHz kentsfield.. probably score about 50Gflops in theory.. May run 2 kentfileds in distributed computing with 2 DS4 montherboards in the future to reach 100Gflops ...mini supercomputer.
50 to 100 GFLOPS the super computers of the early 1990s.. now 280TFLOPS .. maybe in another 15 years (wawasan 2020)..an average home user will be able to get that amount of processing power. This post has been edited by BeastX: Nov 30 2006, 02:13 PM |

QUOTE(irenic @ Feb 1 2007, 01:09 PM) great result.. but i'm surprised with ds3 u couldnt break 3.2ghz.. bcoz ds3 is quite good in oc.. As not all processors are created equal, not all chipset are created equal as well... 2 same model/manufactured motherboard may have different overclocking result. True in a way as I have two DS4 ver 1. |

Ambient temperature was around mid teens (12 to 17 C).. now 7 to 12C.. can see your own breath...
It is the load temperature, never exceed 75C...even when room is at mid 20C. Getting all 4 cores passing orthos is a challange... core no3 would give up in minutes... while othe 3 can go to 3.8GHz and above without much fuss. Heatsink Scynthe Infinity. |
