Err.. no actually. I thought anything below 2.2v is acceptable not to use any ram coolers?

Anyway i just finished my stress test again

Now, i think ill raise the fsb for the ram.. But im not sure about how to play with the timings lol..

nice...up the fsb 10 by 10...used blend test instead of small FFT...blend will stress both ur cpu n ram...for ram timing u can start at 4-4-4-12...when the freq go higher..loosen it a bit if not stable...tight timing with higher frequency is the best...try to find ur best combination...gudluck...

orthos failed after 5 hours 1.4v 3.03ghz. 2.2v ram. vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

no trying to increase fsb voltage +0.2v. as per recommended by toms hardware.

Dont take my word for it. Wait for a sifu to clarify the fact. IIRC, I read somewhere in the VR-Zone forums something about no active cooling required to cool off the ram.

Btw, i do have a 120mm side fan blowing towards my mobo though. Im pretty sure it would 'cool' down my ram to a certain extent. biggrin.gif

same opinion with u...if ur ram operating under 2.2v as it rated...normal usage...no active cooling required...but when u all testing prime/stress the ram while run orthos/others stress program for very long hours...just u put one fan blow to it...its gud to cooled it down....just in case of anything happen..

its ur choice..if u want to run at relaxing timing then go for 5-5-5-12...but if u want tight timing...u have to try it....like i said...if not stable..loosing the timing abit as the freq go higher...

Hmmm, whats the lifespan for the cpu with 3.25v and ram with 2.2v? Any idea?

cpu or proc with 3.25v? rclxub.gif prolly instant death? I have read that you should keep your oc to within 10% of the default vcore. Say for c2d's (most of em) the default vcore is 1.325v, so +10% gives you about 1.45v. That would be safe. IIRC, the ultimate max would be around 1.55v for c2d's on air cooling that is.

The ram @ 2.2v will prolly depend on the rated speed. Some performance ram are rated @ 2.1 - 2.2v. So running at 2.2v is fine. However, if the rams are rated @ 1.8v, I dont really know exactly. As a rule of thumb that i follow (which might be dumb), anything below 2.2v is okay. The lower the better though.

There's an interesting rite up about in VR-Zone HERE and some relevant info in TG Forums HERE (you might have to read a couple of pages of this one)

Good luck icon_rolleyes.gif

Lol wops my bad, typing error lol... Thx alot vasalle, those sites really helped.

A quick question, to raise the voltage of the ram.. Which settings is it? Using a gigabyte ds3, is it FSB Overvoltage or (G)MCH Overvoltage?
