Hi guys. wanna ask someting about public bankcard procedure.
My bro just passed away and left debt around 2k in his card. I already walk in to nearest branch and submit reverent document and pending calls from card center.
Does anyone have any experience regarding the debt will be need to be settle in full or any chances for reduction?

My condolences for your loss.

Okay, the good thing is that Banks cannot sue a dead person. However, the Bank can sue the estate of the deceased or the executor of the estate.

Did your brother have a will.

Did your brother leave behind a lot of money, assets, money in the bank

Did your brother have an ATM card that you know the pin.

The TLDR advice is NO NEED to pay the debt of 2k as the bank cannot take legal action against a dead person and for 2k, it's not worth going after the estate or the executor.

Regarding the time zone issue using Cybersource (Shoppee), my transaction at 8.30am was correctly reported as occurring on 6 February, and hence eligible for the cash back campaign.

As I mentioned earlier, my transactions between 3-4am using Cybersource on Zalora were incorrectly posted a day earlier.

Not sure what is the "cut off" time for transactions to be posted on the correct day. Hope others will share.

As a principal, you can call CS and ask them to confirm. I always do this when my supplementary cards make foreign currency transactions and I want to know the final amount posted.

could be uobpayonline's issue.
this morning around 7am+, i've paid 9 bill payments:

1x astro @ astro portal (principal card)
1x maxis @ maxispay (principal card)
2x umobile @ umobile portal (principal card)
4x webe digital @ webe portal (supp card #1)
1x unifi @ mytm portal (supp card #2)

all total RM1,000.00.
occasionally, i will get SMS alert for multiple transactions in short period: "RM0.00 Multiple usage on your card ending xxxx, latest @ <merchant name> RMxx.xx FEB06 07:25am. Pls call Public Bank if you didn't use it"

I dont get this reminder if i delay a bit, cuz i need to login to each self care portal to pay  laugh.gif
after reading your post, i quickly call PBB CS to verify all transactions + amount are recorded in each card. so far, no issue, all captured in their system.
didnt notice any odd behavior just now, but i didnt observe where it redirected to.

email info after payment:

Nothing will happen.

Bank will have to write off upon notice of death.

But important is not to use the CC after the card holder has passes away.

Not worth it for 5k for bank to take action against the deceased estate. On this case, there is hardly any estate.

Just called up CS and the transaction for lazada on 6/2/17 just after midnight revealed statement date of 7/2/17. So, am keeping fingers crossed because that transaction was more than RM 1000.

This term is called Right of Set off.

It allows the Bank to set off one account which is in credit against another account in debit of the same person.

To counter this, don't maintain CASA or FD in the same bank where you have loans such as CC, PL, etc

The right of seems off is authorized and is standard terms of all loans and accounts.
