Hm, I'm going to the states soon, maybe I should buy a couple, how much will you guys be willing to spend on the phone?
*
Hmmm... I think RM1750 is ok...
USD399 + California tax = approximately USD432 * RM3.50 = RM1512

this is what my research told me:
Send with USPS 90-100% will get caught in KLIA.
Send with courier (FedEX, DHL or UPS) 10-30%.

I rahter pay more up front. I was told they will open ur iPhone packaging n put a very "nice" SIRIM sticker right on the back of your iPhone.

QUOTE(Ebay Malaysia Forum)
Hi everyone,

I just want to share my experience when buying HP from overseas.

1)First you must get an AP from SIRIM.It will cost you about RM215(for 3 HP)then they will give all the documentation for KASTAM clearance and 3 sirim sticker.

2)When the HP has arrived you will received a letter from kastam to collect your phone and provide the AP upon collection.

3)Kastam will tax 10% from the declared value.

4)If the declared value exceeded RM500 you will be charge another (if i'm not mistaken) RM60-70 by POS M'SIA also(some sort like documentation fees).

5)If the declared value below than RM500 you will pay the 10% tax directly to Kastam M'sia.

6)The 10% tax are also for used hp.But if you're lucky they will not detained the hp and you will received a red
card(barang2 berharga) from POS M'sia that will ask you to collect the item personally at the nearest post office within 7 days.

All that i have wrote here is based on my past experience.Hope this would be useful to you and everyone.
Have a nice day.

No problems here waking up from Sleep mode, the phone still comes to life when calls or text messages comes in. Heck, it even comes to life when mails arrive.

Wei, i wanted to change the scrolling carrier logo to an icon even, but read that the change is permanent, meaning that it will stay that way even if i roam. Not a good choice for my kinf of life, since i roam a lot.

There is a lot of different combination of how things wil happen when you do the unlock, and which carrier you use the phone on. I chose to be on the safe side, and did it the iUnlock way. REason being, i dont like being kept out of the loop from what these programs are doing to my iPhone, i'd like to know what's going on and what changes these programs are doing to the iPhone. iUnlock method gives me that, AnySIM does not. AnySIM involves transferring the AnySIM.app into the Springboard and executing it from there, and some of the processes are in the background, so you dont really know if it is really doing what's intended or not. This guide at iphone.unlock.no explains the step-by-step method, but be advised that these steps gets quite overwhelming for those who arent used to command lines and SSH.

EDIT: I wonder where the Sirim sticker will be once we have our own local iPhone launch. On top of the Home button, maybe? laugh.gif

This link have all of the current unlocking methods available at Hackint0sh forums, compiled into a single post for easy reference.

http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7889

From AnySIM.pp, AnySIM.pxl, right up to opening your iPhone and hardwiring it. Pick your poison, and do your research carefully before you pick a method. And once you have started on a particular method, STICK with it, DO NOT change to a different one, you may mistakenly do the same process twice, and most often, by doing this, you screw up your unlocking and end up with either partial failures, or worse, a total brick.

The PACAY Youtube reactivation is also included in that link i provided.

Those with hacked iPhone + maxis SIM on hand & currently in Malaysia, pls PM me.

Forgot to mention, I need someone that's savy with command line for these too. Best if you done the unlcok yourself.

LOL!! didn't think of this before... since the battery can't be removed, the iphone doesn't have any discreet covered areas, does it?? i don't wanna imagine the sticker being on top of the home button tongue.gif

Exactly! No phones so far had the battery fully encased and non-removable (at least not by the traditional means) like the iPhone. They could always make the sticker somewhat transparent, but i doubt Sirim would make such exception for it.

My iPhone still has not zits, she exfoliates every night. A BIG Sirim zit , that is! laugh.gif
