the iphone dev team has promised that they'll release something that'll allow hacked iphones to be restored to factory presets, to allow for firmware updates.. like jobs said, it's definitely a cat and mouse game... each time a new firmware is released, it'll surely be hacked, then the hack will be disabled by newer firmware, hacked again, and the cycle goes on and on...

owners of hacked iphones should be aware of these developments, and not expect their phones to work without problems... I'm not too worried about most of the iphone owners here, coz u all should know well enough not to simply update to the new firmware until it's proven to be safe... However, i'm sure there's bound to be people who'll brick their iPhones, especially those who don't do their research... Imagine those gullible people who paid sky-high prices for their iPhones (like those who paid RM4000++ for unlocked sets)... these are the kind of people who'll be gullible enough to happily click click click in anticipation of having updated firmware, only to find out that it'll brick their phones...

Owning an unlocked iPhone has always been a gamble, and always will be a gamble... it's just a matter of how smart you are to deal with the risks... You can't keep on reconsidering your options all the time, coz it's a never ending chase between Apple and the hackers...

unlocked iphone can use sleep button ah? Because i saw from some forum, they say when press sleep button, later whole iphone sot sot when press back wake... isit a bug?

No, the one I'm looking for is not messing with APN. Messing the APN setup will only render it unable to connect, but the EDGE is still running/active. What we want is something to kill the EDGE totally. Something like power-off the EDGE chip.

At the moment, no 3rd party apps can do so. Only in FW 1.1.1 have this function.
