Kodi is not hacked.. Addons are only as good as their maintainers.. They come and go.. Some for good.

Played around with this... Has a Kodi V18 base (nightly) Looks neat.. Better video output (could be placebo).. Video plays smooth (prolly cuz the hacked AMLogic codes are still inside..hidden), but I still can't help but notice the occasionally brief audio-video sync issues. Plus, while it appears in the background that refresh rates are adjusted, calling up TV res info still shows 60p. Yeah, I'm picky like that..

Also, installing this refused to allow Jarvis V16.1 or Krypton to be installed over it, as a quick restore. Luckily, I made a backup of my stable Jarvis installation. So a quick uninstall, reinstall of 16.1 and backup restored, saw me up and running.

Tried both File Commander and Asus's File Manager and both are geared more towards touchscreens usage than using a physical remote with directional arrows. FC had worse remote navigation. Both file managers can access LAN and Cloud storages.

Opps…i didn't think about the remote navigation cause I'm using k400 plus. Next time i will take note on this when recommend to others.

Btw…those Minix version Jodi works on generic box? Saw the Minix forum got kodi 16.3 beta too…

It's alright.. I use an Airmouse can can navigate fine. Just prefer using directional arrows and enter key, instead of waving my arm around.

I haven't tried installing it yet on other devices. While it may very well install and launch, specific Minix fixes are tied to the firmware (which is in turn, written for its hardware) and as such, non-minix devices will not see the benefits. It's part of their selling point, only fair it's protected.

i examined this matter more closely.

i think what happened is tvaddons.ag (krypton) is only restructuring their own repos and addons - becos some of them are no longer relevant for kodi17. e.g. maint tools has to be split and replaced with 2 program addons - easy advanced settings for .xml's and indigo for all the rest. this has to be done becos advanced settings changed with kodi17, moved to a diff tag. tvaddons.ag repo is in superrepo (with krypton version, in fusion (not sure if there is krypton version) too, i think.

yup, stick to 16.1 for audio passthrough.

advanced settings is a little diff with 17.0, see above.
to get easy advanced settings addon to do xml, u need new plugin repo, old one does not work, can't get it.

the repo does not work on kodi17, so the addon won't install.
i checked, there is no new plugin for kodi17 yet.
so, u gotta return to kodi16.1 for it.

i think i have spent enough time on this kodi17. as i have 2 boxes, one on 16.1 and 17.0, i can now see the major differences - not good news. main issue is audio passthru; second issue is some "structural" changes e.g. advancedsettings.xml; and many repos/addons are not available for 17.0. worse, as future kodi versions will not be fixed solely by kodi but by the box makers themselves, it will be diff experience for diff people with diff boxes.

i can see the chaos ahead when there will be more and more variations and differences. in time, we may possibly need multiple KODI threads - one for each brand/model!

Yeah, looks like I did. I understood he wanted a straight answer, but couldn't give him such as performance depends on the device itself. It works for some and not for others, depending on the hardware and current firmware. So he had to test and see.

Yeah, the whole TVAddons indigo fiasco. While it's still considered an update, it didn't happen in the regular fashion and that got the community really pissed that an addon simply installed itself and removed others. Most people aren't aware that this is precisely why the Kodi team always warns against installing outside the official Kodi repo. Installing a third party repo and addon is like giving one's house keys to say the house help and walking off. Sure they can make your life easier, but they can equally screw things over.

IMO, the pathway Kodi has decided to take is the right one. It instantly separated the chaff from the wheat and hopefully forces the actions of box and CPU manufacturers to sit up. Sure, crappy devices will still be produced and sold in the future. However, only the manufacturers that sit up will be able to corner the lucrative market of device buyers who are suddenly left "stranded" and wanting to jump ship.

I can navigate to the files using K-V-F but when I clicked on them, cannot play the videos.

The videos are on my NAS.

Regarding the Exodus DDOS "botnet". Like my previous post on giving one's house keys and walking away.. Exodus on the front was working as normal. However, unknown to some of its users, they were a part of a botnet. In addition, Lambda, who’s one of the most prolific developers in the community has retired. So Exodus will either die a slow or abrupt death soon or gets taken over by another. Another good dev bites the dust cuz legal issues..
