Bought a box recently and the seller put in a lot of add-ons for me which I think some may be redundant for me. I will check out first page to see which add-ons suit me and gradually delete those don't interest me. laugh.gif

Though the box comes with internal 32GB, I cannot simply waste it. tongue.gif

Anyway, I have a question regarding YouTube add-on, I can't play anything beyond 720p. The box is capable to play 4K though I haven't tried before. sweat.gif So, in the end I sideloaded YouTube apk and I can play full HD now. Is the add-on cannot go beyond HD? Or did I miss any step?

that's a lot of storage. if yr broadband speed is good enough, u will enjoy quasar addon for vod which will require the storage.
this addon is a bit more complicated than usual so, do google and watch the youtube videos for details.

youtube - yes, only the right standalone apk can get u 1080p.
note there is alos an apk that will get u 720p only, like in kodi.
*
Yes, speed is not really an issue. I'm using UniFi 30M in my PJ house and back to hometown, I'm using Celcom corporate line as hotspot which paid by company, can buy quota all I like/need. Can reach close to 100M here. tongue.gif

Got it. I will check out Quasar.

Oh, luckily the one I sideloaded plays 1080p, it's meant for mobile phones actually. tongue.gif

In due time and needs dependent. You'll find that having just a few core addons (in my case, about 5) is sufficient.

Yes, the Kodi YouTube addon will only output a max res of 720p. Unfortunately, such is here to stay till circumstances change.
*
Yes, for me these two are mandatory for me - Icdrama and Azdrama. laugh.gif Sometimes Azdrama is down then Icdrama comes as backup. The rest just comes as bonus. I finally can watch movies without having storage issue. laugh.gif
I will remove YouTube add-on then. biggrin.gif

Guys, my seller is too generous and put in a lot of add-ons for me. sweat.gif I have uninstalled most of them because they are useless for me. However, some add-ons' "uninstall" button is greyed out. How can I delete them? Thanks. smile.gif

there are many addons that are dependent on other addons, video or programs.

to get rid of some of them, u first need to get rid of all the other(s) that are in the dependency.

sometimes, the message pops out.

so, u need to find out which one(s) are tied to which.
*
I see. Looks like I have to keep them because I retain some add-ons like Phoenix and Salt. Oh well, maybe I just uninstall all and re-install back whatever I want. biggrin.gif

salt is certainly one of those that have dependencies.

i can also think of several addons that depend on sportsdevil; quasar is dependent on the providers.
what happens over time is u will find yr kodi build filled with "garbage", getting annoying messages or errors. then u need to erase completely, reinstall and rebuild. it is for this reason the sooner ones practice on kodi, the better off u will be in the future.

one tip for you - what if u have a good build and wants to keep a backup so that u can continue to play with it but able to put the backup back if necessary?

for your benefit, there is a simple way of doing this - just use es file explorer, get into the folders, save a copy of the folder org.xbmc.kodi. that's your build at any time. simple remove old and paste backup when u want to. u can also this paste that backup build on any other android device with bare kodi installed, i.e. u can "clone".

Thanks for the tips! Now I got it. biggrin.gif
Yes, too many garbage, I better start cleaning up now. tongue.gif

all those cheap android tv box work like this if we reset it:

- factory firmware loaded.
- automatically install apk(s) in pre-install folder in firmware.
- automatically copy the org.xmbc.kodi from firmware to internal memory.
- tada…kodi is full with junk add-ons again tongue.gif

one can choose to uninstall the kodi with junk comes with the box and install back from google play, or uninstall it then browse the pre-install folder using es file explorer and install it back laugh.gif
*
I actually plan to re-install Kodi. That's the only app comes with a lot of junks which I don't watch. tongue.gif

ooo... is that it?!

the firmware, ops sys and proprietory/mandatory apps for sure.

but others too? that's a pain to get rid of...
wai is telling u that in the event u reset yr box (if it falls into that category  biggrin.gif ), u will get the original box kodi build again.

i.e. u need to do rebuild kodi again after reset.

so, your own backup of org.xbmc.kodi will come in handy.
*
Yeah I know. It's OK la even if the backup is gone, I can easily replicate it. tongue.gif
After all my add-on is so little. laugh.gif

just for tv shows and movies.

all the rest, i find it easier and better quality with other apps.
*
I Googled Quasar that day and I think I will add it too.
I guess tonight is the day I will remove my pre-installed Kodi with my own add-ons. biggrin.gif

These two days too busy and haven't caught up with my TVB series yet. Glad that Icdrama is still working and my favourite source is always Picasaweb 720p. Too bad no 1080p for TVB. sad.gif

I'm not sure if you guys have come across with Project M addons. It's got 4K, Dolby Digital, DTS 5.1 contents. 4K streaming very smooth and the sounds are great too!
It's under Merlin repo:

Merlin repo

Thanks for the tips. Will try tonight. biggrin.gif

Pretty straightforward...

*File Manager... Add Repo... Name as Merlin Repo or ***.... Install from zip file... Select Merlin... Wait for repo to be installed proper...Install from repo... install addon.. Profit!.

AVFAN or anyone else who is an expert for Quasar. I have added Quasar (finally!). It works. rclxms.gif But... I have tried few recent movies and it shows "No link is found". Is this normal? I used Magnetic and installed EZTV, Torrentz, Kickass and Extratorrent. I Googled and found these results or you guys have any better recommendation? unsure.gif

I simply selected one TV show and links were found. So, these Torrent add-ons should be OK. hmm.gif

MAGNETIC providers did not work for me on kodi 16.1.
use Quasar MC providers; they are not the same.
but as quasar get frequent updates, it is possible they work now.

the providers have been under regulatory pressure forever; some have shut down voluntarily, some forced to do so, others set up mirrors or new sites. the provider addons may be out of date. in fact, i think all except a few are outdated. so, try all of them!

"Recent movies"... many do not work becos the links are put there in advance, may not be active. some are crap cinema stuff. better use others like most popular, people watching, etc. and if u hv a title in mind, do a search.

"no link found" happens with every first time u click on the title. click it a second time!
*
Thanks for the tips. I managed to search back old posts from this thread. thumbup.gif
However, Magnetic MC Magnetdl works for me. biggrin.gif
Happy now. biggrin.gif

It has always worked... been using it... using it right now.. One click and list gets populated.. Quasar addon auto-updates on its own.. Had an update earlier today..

Addons are made to run in Kodi, Kodi is made to run on systems. An addon (theoretically) should always run within its parameters and without hiccups, provided its the right version, supporting Kodi version and no corrupt Kodi files and or network issues disturbing the addon, Kodi and or the device it's installed on from fetching the appropriate content.
*
It seems only Magnetdl has most of the active links working. Do you have any backup provider? tongue.gif

it totally not working on my previous 16.0 Jarvis.

The providers that I use are Magne***(movies and shows), 13***(movies and shows),EZT*(shows), RA***(bluray movies), Y**(bluray movies but in a small size files compare to RA***
*
Mine was 16.1 Jarvis and it works. Fortunately, it works. laugh.gif
