salt is certainly one of those that have dependencies.

i can also think of several addons that depend on sportsdevil; quasar is dependent on the providers.
what happens over time is u will find yr kodi build filled with "garbage", getting annoying messages or errors. then u need to erase completely, reinstall and rebuild. it is for this reason the sooner ones practice on kodi, the better off u will be in the future.

one tip for you - what if u have a good build and wants to keep a backup so that u can continue to play with it but able to put the backup back if necessary?

for your benefit, there is a simple way of doing this - just use es file explorer, get into the folders, save a copy of the folder org.xbmc.kodi. that's your build at any time. simple remove old and paste backup when u want to. u can also this paste that backup build on any other android device with bare kodi installed, i.e. u can "clone".
*
fruitie

all those cheap android tv box work like this if we reset it:

- factory firmware loaded.
- automatically install apk(s) in pre-install folder in firmware.
- automatically copy the org.xmbc.kodi from firmware to internal memory.
- tada…kodi is full with junk add-ons again tongue.gif

one can choose to uninstall the kodi with junk comes with the box and install back from google play, or uninstall it then browse the pre-install folder using es file explorer and install it back laugh.gif

I actually plan to re-install Kodi. That's the only app comes with a lot of junks which I don't watch. tongue.gif
*
i use spmc instead laugh.gif
u can try uninstall kodi then install spmc, use back the confluence skin, it will looks identical with kodi.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Dec 28 2016, 06:28 PM)
ooo... is that it?!

the firmware, ops sys and proprietory/mandatory apps for sure.

but others too? that's a pain to get rid of...
wai is telling u that in the event u reset yr box (if it falls into that category  biggrin.gif ), u will get the original box kodi build again.

i.e. u need to do rebuild your own kodi again after reset.

so, your own backup of org.xbmc.kodi will come in handy then.
*
there is a org.xbmc.kodi.tar.gz file inside the root folder. you can copy it out to pc and unzip it and see what inside. i extract the default wallpaper for my spmc use tongue.gif

as long no reset your box then the junk add-ons will not come out after uninstall kodi.

others i don't know. my box only comes with mx player 1.8.6, netflix, and kodi 16.1 with that org.xbmc.kodi.tar.gz junk.

Unfortunately no 4K TV for me. sad.gif That's why cannot try if my box can really play 4K contents...
*
1080p display will still benefit from 4k content, especially on pc monitor, more refine resolution.

QUOTE(rx330 @ Jan 17 2017, 01:18 PM)
ya, so i can only watch 4k from the built in netflix n youtube itself on the tv

anyway thats not my main concern, audio is

u familiar in htpc? this is the 1st time my foray into htpc , all these while i have been using media players and avr
*
getting hd sound from htpc not that hard…
do you use any graphic card? did you connect the audio link between the graphic card and mobo? did you set relevant hdmi audio as default output in your os? did you configure in os if you want to bitstream or lpcm? did you set relevant hdmi audio settings in your player/software?

lots of factors, even motherboard brand make difference. last time using amd based pc, damn lot configuration to make it got sound output. now using intel haswell, both hdmi or dual link dvi also can output sound no problem, display port never tried.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 17 2017, 01:25 PM)
No, i have never used htpc.

I stick to what i know best... androids. biggrin.gif

Talking about that, i am about to buy a new avr.... 4k pass thru for sure, only question is whether its worth going ddatmos and dtsx or stay with ddtruehd and dtshdma. There is almost nothing i can find with dtsx!
*
4k passthru and good 4k upscaling capability if possible.

ddatmos you need extra speakers to be placed on ceiling for best result, or some ddatmos front speaker which got additional drivers on top of the speakers optimized for pseudo ddatmos effect. more speakers means your avr need more power to drive it.

for avr, my opinion la…just get the cheapest model with most features and audio format compatibility, with at least 5.1 channels pre-out to connect the core channels to good quality power amp.

if you got no spacious room to play ddatmos, i think better stay with ddtruehd.

anyone using lastest kodi 17.0 rc3 yet?

tried it, the totally new gui (interface) is very nice! biggrin.gif

navigation is also better.

u can stick your org.xbmc.kodi from 16.1 in it, works fine.

Honestly don't understand why folks wanna pay the price for a box that's not so friendly to setup or compatible...
*
they got no knowledge on this.

all sellers brainwash them those box got a lot FREE tv programs which can replace astro. in fact they don't know the reliability of the software.

we are experienced users to know tv box consists of 2 parts: the hardware and the software.

for the hardware part, we either:
1. pay for the most expensive box that we could afford so that it could do hd video & audio decoding flawlessly.

2. the box that can run ahem ahem softwares (as cheap as possible, normally S905 chipset with 2gb/16gb spec at least, period.)

for the software part, just find, download and test run on your android phone and see if it stable or not.

for those new comers that really no idea where to start, my advice:

1. start looking suitable software, go google "facebook tv box", download all those recommended softwares and install to your android phone. (no android phone? then android tv box is not for u)

2. if the software works on your android phone (preferably android 4.4 and above), congrats. you can look for tv bix already.

3. no idea which box to get? grab those popular box in RM150-RM200 range in lazada. (under category tv - videos - media players)

Yes, I went to my cousin's house yesterday and being a geek himself, I'm surprised he also bought a Xiaomi box for his folks. Probably easy to navigate. He also subscribes one year of CloudTV, I'm quite amazed by its quality and stability even just running on 4Mbps Streamyx. No issue at all for HD quality. hmm.gif Makes me tempted to subscribe, his third year of subscription and satisfied with it. laugh.gif
Then no need to find for Kodi add-on. laugh.gif

cloudtv is live tv or vod?

Sure... It's in "Interface Settings".
Just installed from the Play Store... Overwrote the previous 16.1 and addons were migrated over.. Mimic skin isn't compatible and so was disabled. No biggie, as I would like to play with Estuary for awhile. Lots of significant improvements over the previous stable version. You would have to check the Kodi website for details as too many to list here.

Yeah.. It's the Kodi foundation's way of forcing AMLogic's hand and that of some manufacturers.. I welcome such, as guidelines need to be established and followed for a better experience. Have some time to spare? Do check out the Android HD Audio and more section on the page. Explains why.
Yeah, do try the other methods.. From the link above.. King's still the king..  biggrin.gif
Welcome...

deeply used to the confluence and re-touched skin, damn not like the new skin.

just done some simple local playback, the player seems an improvement.

I was using Amber before this. Haven't tried it on V17, however seeing as it wasn't disabled during Addons migration, it should be compatible.. Some love the new skin and others don't.. For me, it's a fresh and speedy look and so I'll love it till it gets boring. Luckily, we have options.. smile.gif

Yeah.. Seems so.. Quick preliminary tests shows smoother time jumps during playback. I did notice that pressing "O" to display the codec info, now displays less info... Previously on Jarvis, one is able to see the amount of cache already filled and how fast it fills. I miss that feature. Will recheck later and if still missing, it's a feature I hope, is reintroduced.
*
have been playing with the krypton for few hours last night, this version great if one doesn't need audio passthrough on lollipop tv box. the video playback capability for sure is an improvement. i notice there is default add-on for joystick, not sure what is that for, but surely a gooding function i think tongue.gif

for local playback, i will still stick with SPMC for the moment.

btw, share my wallpaper with you guys
