Do you guys recommend me to uninstall the Norton Antivirus that comes pre-installed in my V3242 ??

I think the Norton AV is really slowing down the Vista and also my internet connection speed.

Thinking of getting rid of Norton and install AVG.

anyone here using mushkin ddr2 667 512mb x 2 ? my laptop is a v3218au = amd

i'm having problems when doing certain things on my laptop...
esp when playing video (divx,xvid) different players also same problem.... different installations also same problem...

but when i encode movies no problem... it doesnt hang.

only when playing movies.... normallly 30-40 minutes into the movie it will freeze and the speaker emits short looping sound continously.

i already upgraded latest firmware and drivers from compaq, on another installation i also have custom drivers from other sources. both installations also behave the same, freeze when doing certain things.

temperature i monitor.... its still ok... if temperature is the problem then i should hang when i encoding movies.

anyone have any idea ? could it be the ram ?

Added on May 23, 2007, 12:31 pmi suspected the cdrom drive because some people have issues with compaq series combo drive. stilll freeze also.

Just to ask, since this laptop runs on a Celeron processor, i don't think its possible for it to run those first-person shooter games (i.e. Counter-Strike) or even the FIFA series ya?

And also, if i were to increase RAM, how much does a 512MB DDR2 chip cost for notebooks?

no worries mate, Celerom could run CounterStrike and Fifa series as i recall.. even the CnC3 could be executed but with the most minimal settings...

it is advisable to uprade your ram to 1gig ddr2 since the price is around 110-140 rather than 512mb ddr2 at 80-90.

now 1 gig is 105-115 at loyat...

dont give wrong info la.... that price is for desktop ram, not laptop. most laptop ram still around rm140

lol ..v3000 really cannot fight la ..got division v3100, v3200, v3300 ..woot !!! later got v3400, v3500, v3600 !!!!! so many !!!

if U are V3000 user all the vent below are sucking air and blow out through the vent behind...... feel it lah

But when i'm using, and i put it on a table, after some time, the area below the hard disk will be very hot wo. The vent at the hard disk area is releasing hot air i think. The area behind near the processor, not hot 1 leh...

wanna ask, is it normal for this? my v3000 is 1.66GHz but in the system properties it only show 980MHz.juz realise this..is it normal for laptop???
