well..since you might be using for so long as I assume probably at least till the warranty is over....i dun think you should worry much on the price as its common for pda phone of any brand to have low resale value compare to conventional phone.....

i guess I get bored easily.....or mostly because my hands are itchy on getting new stuff.... he he he....but apart from the p535 which is 1st hand.....all the previous ones were mostly 2nd hands......so not too much losses when I sell......


@ stimix.......you mentioned external antenna....where did you get it for the p535....i want one too.....

totally inane question again : is the car holder like totally useless or am i fixing it wrong ? The suction cup doesnt suck enuf !! the thing falls down !

err.....mine has been there for since the first day I bought...roughly 2 months ago....i park in the sun and under the garage also never fall off....

maybe yours is defective? or maybe wrong installation?.....

anyway....there is a piece of protective plastic that you need to tear off first that is stuck to the suction cup.......

defective. go find a cheap one around Rm12, but make sure u test it on a glass. my cheap RM12 has been on my car glass for almost 8 months already

The extenna antenna oledi wth me since last year, used it extensively for tracking & contributing my tracklogs to mappers. Actually I got it free from one of the mapper after realising that my earlier tracks were so inaccurate & keeps on jumping & jagged.

U can get the antenna from the Garmin shop located at the entrance of Digital Mall Sek 14, PJ....look for Kelvin...

@ stimix : The antenna connects to the port behind the "GPS" rubber cover? Does the reception and accuracy improve a lot? Is it very costly and bulky?

@ klmc : Hmm, maybe u din set it up properly? afaik, the damn thing wont come loose la once sucked to the glass...wan to adjust height also must release the lever, cannot be lazy n just force the holder down or up...LoL

@ tester : make sure this unit last more than 6 months la, the GPS function should be able to keep u using it for at least 7 months gua...hehe

Actually in addition to the ext antenna, I also bought a re-radiating unit (i.e a unit to amplify the signal from the ext ant and re-radiate it wireless to the GPSr)...So I dun really connect directly to the GPS socket. Another reason is because the connector is diff from what P535 has (probably mini mcx rather than mcx ext antenna)

The price of the antenna ranging from as cheap as RM80 to RM120 & the re-radiating unit cost about Rm120..U can get this from PC mobile

Do we really need an ext antenna - Well if u really serious about tracking especially tracking new roads for the purpose of mapping, then it is a YES. The accuracy of data is much better if u hv an ext ant rather than none. For eg..reading of accuracy w/out ext ant inside a tinted car = 8M-15M but once u hooked up, the accuracy improved to 6M to 8M (This is on P535)....But for normal navigation, ext antenna is not necessary unless ur car if tinted wth Vcool. U probably got "Lost satelite signal once in a while w/out ext antenna

err.....its ok......we make silly mistakes now and then.....especially when all the attention is given to a very new and powerful toy like p535......

i have not use windows mobile device centre as it seems this is only for vista right.....anyway why don't you try this step by step guide....can use for trouble shooting or......if you decide to do a start from the beginning....... better to clear off any installation and configurations first so that you have a clean start

hmm i wonder if there is reradiating the GSM signal to inside my apartment.....the reception is so bad.....

I dun think there are any generic connector in the market yet, If u visit PC-mobile site u can see that there are 3 types of connector i.e MCX, Mini MCX and BNC....dun ask me I also dunno what are these convention..Anyway, I'm interested of getting an adaptor for my MCX type antenna to be connected directly rather than rediating (More powerful..I think...)..Awaiting their reply to check what socket is P535 using...

hmm.....maybe you can try calling asus service centre....the one in bandar tasik selatan if i am not mistaken....the SA told me to try them as they are the one importing p535 to malaysia.....

i would consider to buy too if the price is not expensive

Added on June 22, 2007, 12:00 pmi called Phone Star communication as they are the distributor but seems like they do not bring in any GPS antennas for P535. They were not really helpful as I got transfered from one to another.

i would have prefered if the color was solid black rather than hald see through black because it looks clumsy on the black p535 that I have....

but with the white silicon casing however.....my black p535 blended nicely to a color that i can accept......

Yes I called them also this Morning tillnow they did not call me bck at all. I have also Email to ASUS asia pacific SC..and Got a reply that they will come bck to me within 48hours.....Chances is they developed the GPS phone & include the unconventional socket but yet dun have any ext antenna as standard accesory..

BTW, how much & where to get the cover huh..probably missed your earlier postings...

& Is there any GPS Camera function as those in Dopod D810 & HP6965??...can't find any menu to activate GPS on the camera...so that the coordinate appeared on the captured photo.

i bought at cineleisure ground floor for RM100......only got one pda shop at the ground floor.....if not mistaken is pda union....

i have a flip top leather that I can sell off cheap if you want....from capdase also....better than the ori casing that is not very practical because have to take out phone all the time....the leather casing with flip top easier....no need take out phone....

anyway....i dun think there is the GPS camera function as you mentioned for p535....

Ouch..so pricy one-ah ...Yes I;m using Capdase or something on my ex-hp6515...Given the RM80 case FOC once I sold the unit last week...So probably hv to look for another leather case-liow...

NO GPS camera huh sad indeed..but small matter only-lah..pros & cons of diff PDAs...

the leather casing that i had is perfectly built for p535....

anyway....on the silicon casing....i admit it should probably be around rm80 only but since the guy order specifically when I asked him too...and he so good call me when the thing arrived....i dun really mind for such good and attentive salesman.....deserved my business.....

ok...here are the leather casing.....can use camera without taking the casing off....

plus since its flip top casing, can use the gps mount without taking off the casing....

unlike those bifold casing that you need to take out from the casing to use the gps mount in the car.....which is so troublesome and time consuming....
