*
The latest Mapking update is as at 26/4/07...seems like no update since then hmm.gif wondering why too... hmm.gif But for Garmin maptiles, they are very current as at 21/6/07..i.e very hot from the oven... rclxms.gif

Garmin Que is a proprietary mapping software for Garmin product GPS10 & thus u can download from the link given in the wiki. However, somehow or rather ppl managed to cretae a 3rd party software caled GPS proxy to run Garmin que without buying the hardware.....so practicaly it is free in that sense.....it is still grey area till Today... biggrin.gif

The good things about Garmin Que which Mapking dun hv/ lacking:

1) Very updated free maps from malsingmaps,,,Mapking now no longer updated so frequently..
2) Accuracy of routing is much better
3) More info which mapking dun hv such as Sun & moon function...best time for fishing, Time to destination (mapking hardly see!0 & only coundown)
4) Ability to perform tracking via GPS proxy & contribute the tracklog for mapping purposes...(My weird hobby!)
5) More if u read past posting about the comparison between mapking & Garmin)

However 1 thing that maoking has which garmin lack is the 3D view..... biggrin.gif

Mapking also better cuz the interface is easier to use while driving. in GPS mode, buttons are big, easy to press, and select new destination etc. not like garmin. that one must stop and do it with a stylus.

Haha..dif opinion huh... biggrin.gif personal liking anyway... biggrin.gif ...but for sure Mapking can't record the track for mapping purposes which is a no-no to me...

BTW, it is common for 1st timer to received comport error msg while installing GPS proxy & Garmin...so probably to ease ur problem here is the setup for

1) GPS proxy:

GPS Comp port - com 2
Virtual Com port - com 5
Appl com port -com 5
Output com port - com 5

2) Garmin Que com port (Under option >system setup > interface)- com 5

BTW com 5 can be change to another number depending on what u add at the virtual com port level & also at ur P535 GPS hardware setting...basically layman term EXCEPT FOR GPS com port other com port must be the same number.....

Haha another very common mistake... the map is they only that the current pointer w/out GPS is showing garmin HQ in US..U need to either scroll to M'sia or Start ur GPS to get the map allign to M'sia.

BTW, have u link the GPS proxy >Setting & flag the "run ext app after proxy startup" & choose the Garmin que in the folder? & also u need to flag the Black light permanently on...

After this goto start GPS proxy & it will automaticalyy launched Garmin...U cannot launched Garmin directly sure fail...Must on GPS proxy to start Garmin....remembered..GPS proxy run Garmin Que...Garmin Que on it's own will not work unless u buy GArmin Hardware!

well.....mapking is teaching people to drive dangerously....he he he....

because you are not suppose to do any query/map/navigation setup DURING driving....

stop by the road and make the changes.....

you can save lives.......better not take the chances.....he he he....just an advice.....no bad intentions intended.

The baud rate ...check that it is 4800. U suppose to start from GPS proxy & proxy automatically launced Garmin...This provided u link proxy to Garmin..If not chances of error is high...esp u mentioned u hv to start Garmin individually which not suppose to....not easy huh.... biggrin.gif
