@raymond5105
Im thinking either 7600GS or 7600GT, but prefer a card with DDR3. Some of the 7600GS has either DDR2 or DDR3. Not sure whether the 7600GS is better choice since the price different is around rm100 with both having DDR3.

I agree with shinjite, the most important part is how well the GPU architecture been develop and we user make use of it.

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Mar 25 2007, 02:27 PM) kabukiawie,see your rig can goes up to 3.33GHz.Very good overclcoking result man. This has boosted a lot of power in your system there.P4P800-X can o/c about 1GHz more that should be very good as the vDimm there max only providing 2.68V. haha...temporary only, it seems stable but after i prime it, red stop message right after few minutes. Kahloon,when are you going to get your 7600GS ? I still looking the max prime stable speed. Right now just 45minutes priming on 3.15GHz, if can last till morning, then i try up a bit. Hopefully can reach to 3.2GHz. VDimm is not an issue like what Shinjite said. 533MHz cpu like my case using 1:1 still not yet touch ram 200MHz. i wish my cpu can reach 200fsb. haha......still in dream 7600gs ddr3 and 7600gt different rm100?? i still wonder that our 478 system can fully utilize 7600GT or not. If not then get 7600gs will be a better choice. Thats my opinion. |

3.2 Ghz should be okay
Are you using PAT technology too? if yes, maybe you can increase the Vdimm a bit for stabilizing purposes This post has been edited by shinjite: Mar 26 2007, 12:46 AM |

@kabukiawie
I juz have a glance through on the Palit 7600GS, indeed the card equip with DDR3 and yet the price different is around rm80 between 7600GT. The drawback is lower clock and core speed. Imagine if you can run sync 1:1 ratio at 200Mhz, guess your proc can sapu us all. |

DDR2 and DDR3 just have difference on the bandwidth only. Higher speed of the RAM = more bandwidth. Getting more bandwidth on the video card can boost the gaming experience. To get DDR2 or DDR3 is depending on you already.For my opinion,the best is to get DDR3 for maximum gaming experience. @raymond5105 Im thinking either 7600GS or 7600GT, but prefer a card with DDR3. find out whats the clockspeed for the 7600GT, then clock ur GS to GT speeds
If the ns of your GDDR3 is the same with the 7600GT, expect it to clock as well as the GT version |

QUOTE(kabukiawie @ Mar 25 2007, 09:17 AM) agreed. different between card generation is more obvious than different in bits. like 6600gt vs 5900, 7600gt vs 6800. Now just dont know hows the performance of 8600gt. whoa can reach up to 3.45Ghz?thats great man ed, so early already wake up on sunday. 1ghz oc not stable 1 la. just downclock to 3.33GHz. 7300GT agp price near to rm400 is a bit out of budget. hmm if your P4P800x can reach a 1Ghz OC mine should be able too..i'll be damn happy if i can get to 3Ghz prime stable.maybe im missing out on something btw kabukiawie,when you oc,do you use small steps(100mhz at a time etc) or just straight away go to 3Ghz for example?from stock lah i mean. |

I go straight from 2.4 to 3.15Ghz and test
Then go up to 3.24Ghz and test |

QUOTE(pengster @ Mar 26 2007, 07:10 PM) whoa can reach up to 3.45Ghz?thats great man temp at 3.4is 55load, 42+idle i think. didnt really check as it fail prime in minutes.hmm if your P4P800x can reach a 1Ghz OC mine should be able too..i'll be damn happy if i can get to 3Ghz prime stable.maybe im missing out on something btw kabukiawie,when you oc,do you use small steps(100mhz at a time etc) or just straight away go to 3Ghz for example?from stock lah i mean. i use 10fsb increment. quite fast can reach the limit. then slow slow test the performance, run programs to check2 the stability. The best run prime, clock down 1fsb at a time till can prime stable for few hours. above is the 1st time i try on stock vcore and stock hfs, last time can reach 3.2GHz but reduce till 3GHz due to failing prime. after changing HFS, testing from 3GHz, up to 3.45GHz, fail to boot at 3.5GHz oc really time consuming...haha.....thats the fun part. |

my most frustrating 1 is to test various setups to stabilise the rig at high speeds, from Vcore to Vdimm to timings to ratios

the most frustrating part is that you can even get a decent stable oc(or should i say slight oc)

for your case its a bit weird that you cant oc even you have such good HFS and PSU.
try set the vdimm to max and up the fsb bit by bit. change divider to 1:1 and up vcore may help i think. |
