for your case its a bit weird that you cant oc even you have such good HFS and PSU. hmm.gif

try set the vdimm to max and up the fsb bit by bit. change divider to 1:1 and up vcore may help i think.
*
Yeah sad.gif now i think it's the rams.lol.

that time i tried i've already set to 1:1 divider,2.68v for vdimm,and vcore at 1.575v from the default 1.525v.

and with that i can only go to 2520mhz stable. dry.gif

last time i managed 2.82Ghz max with my spoilt MSI mobo.but that was with 1xDDR400 + 1xDDR266 and a 9550 whistling.gif

then after i changed to the p4p800x i managed 2.7Ghz with cap ayam PSU.also with the same pair of rams and gfx.then after i change to 2xDDR400s +6800GS then cant go higher already.so it must be the rams not liking each other laugh.gif

edit : now im considering whether should i change back to the old setup(1xDDR400+1xDDR266) for my rams or just add in that old DDR266 and make it 1.5Gb @ single channel.suggestions anyone? unsure.gif

Willi is 478. P4a with 100fsb. some of my friends still use p4 1.5GHz i think is willi. Still strong for normal office use. smile.gif

the northwood 100fsb P4a 1.8GHz easy go to 2.4GHz on stock. I like that thumbup.gif

@Pengster
Maybe you can try 1.5GB single channel since you didnt really oc it. who knows you can oc more using single channel. icon_rolleyes.gif

i have doubt that your 6800GS cause the issue. is it the ram imcompatibe?

Maybe your ram slot or your ram having some prob as you mentioned those ram were from your faulty msi mobo. I think its better that you test your ram with memtest. Just my 2 cents. wink.gif

hmm..... i see. tongue.gif not too familiar to older p4. But mostly i saw is 478 Northwood. Willi i saw 1 before. but 100fsb p4 is really slow compare to axp. or even to some Duron. P4B is better but just on par with axp in reallife using. But i never try to do heavy task like ripping dvd or compression files. tongue.gif

I can say P4C Northwood is a success until Athlon64 coming out.

what is the lowest speed of p4 actually?dunno much about older P4.my 1st pc is PIII (forgot it's speed sweat.gif )at that time, proc still didn't reach 1Ghz yet...but after intel succeed in breaking 1ghz barrier, seems the speed upper from that speed easily reached after that.... biggrin.gif

BOTAK_WAI,how come your system property there got stated overclock status = On and yet display the core code name also? Your Win XP is special version? I also got an antique which is also 1.7GHz but running on S423.

@rainingzero,the slowest P4 is 1.3GHz on S423.

Yup slowest is P4 1.3Ghz but its not that "official", the official lowest 1 is 1.4Ghz

AXP is quite fast....you just need to OC it. My friend OCed his AXP 1700+ 1.4Ghz to 240Mhz FSB.....his CPU arithmetic is freaking high due to AMD's higher IPC count >.>"

Higher IPC makes the CPU works fater even in low frequency speed. Now new CPU comes with 4 IPC like C2D. thumbup.gif Lower speed but do more works in the same time.

that time AMD already implement higher IPCs to their Athlons
Intel focus on high clock speeds

Now all are going to the same path.....technology wise smile.gif
