How so? we'll be stabilising the Philippines instead of destabilising like NATO in Syria and Libya

Strategic weapons review: 9K79 Tochka (NATO: SS-21 Scarab)
![]() The 9K79 Tochka ('Point') is a Soviet-designed short range tactical ballistic missile. Its NATO reporting name is SS-21 Scarab. The missile is transported in an amphibious 6x6 9P129 vehicle and raised prior to launch. The missile uses an inertial guidance system with three gyroscopic devices to increase accuracy. The latest versions of the missile is said to have a Circular Error Probability (CEP) of less than 50 meters and can reach a target 70 km away in less than 5 minutes. The missile itself is accurate enough to be used for precision strikes on tactical targets, such as control posts, bridges, storage facilities, troop concentrations and airfields. The basic fragmentation warhead can be replaced with a nuclear, biological or chemical warhead or other conventional warheads. The missile's solid propellant makes the missile easy to maintain and deploy. It takes about 15 minutes for the system to launch a missile from a travelling configuration in which the missile is raised and targeting data is uploaded into the missile's guidance computer. After a boost phase of 30 seconds, the main rocket engine will be jettisoned and the warhead continues on its ballistic trajectory and will drop into terminal descent onto its target at speeds of up to mach 5. The missile can also be launched on a flatter trajectory which can result in a longer range, at the cost of lower accuracy. SS-21 units are usually deployed in a brigade structure. There are 18 launch vehicles in a brigade; other vehicles such as command and maintenance vehicles are also part of the brigade. The launch vehicle is completely amphibious, with a maximum road speed of 60 km/h (37 mph) and 8 km/h (5.0 mph) in water, where it is propelled by two water jets. It is NBC-protected and the enclosed missile compartment is temperature-controlled to prevent environmental damage to the missile. Three variants have been created which increases the missile's range and CEP. The Tochka can be armed with the following warheads: - 300 kg HE-fragmentation warhead with lethal radius more than 200 m - 480 kg conventional HE warhead - A cluster bomblet dispenser with 200 sub-munitions - Nuclear warhead ranging from 7kt up to 20kt - Other WMDs such as chemical or biological weapon warheads may also be installed with some modifications |

U.S. Kills ISIS Operatives Linked To Europe Attacks ![]() QUOTE Defense officials tell The Daily Beast that U.S. special operators have killed 40 “external operations leaders, planners, and facilitators” blamed for instigating, plotting, or funding ISIS’s attacks from Brussels and Paris to Egypt and Africa QUOTE As proof of the campaign’s overall success, Pentagon officials this week said the influx of foreign fighters into Iraq and Syria had dropped from up to 2,000 a month last year to just 200, and the overall size of ISIS from a high estimate of 33,000 a year ago to between 19,000 to 25,000 fighters QUOTE The officials expect that tempo to rise as the newly expanded special operations advising team inside Syria also grows from 50 to up to 300, as President Obama announced in Germany on Monday QUOTE At the top of the special operations target list is the network of ISIS operatives blamed for “external operations”: 60 attacks in 21 countries that have killed 1,000 people since January 2015, the officials said. Most of the ISIS targets were killed in Syria, by special operations combat aircraft, but also by troops who attempted to capture a handful of high value ISIS targets in raids. All of those targets resisted arrest and were killed QUOTE “Door kickers” from units like the U.S. Army’s Delta Force and the Navy SEALs’ Naval Special Warfare Development Group who train for hostage rescue missions or kill-capture raids are paired with operators like Green Berets who specialize in learning foreign languages and cultures, and training local forces http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016...pe-attacks.html |

Scramble with Fighter Pilots of the Chinese Air Force QUOTE A video promoting the People's Liberation Army Air Force—informally known as the Chinese Air Force—has surfaced on YouTube. The video attempts to show the PLAAF as a service fully prepared to defend the country's air space, as well as contribute to fights on the ground and at sea, at a moment's notice. The video starts with children playing in a field of flowers, wearing various national dresses of China's various regions. Suddenly, shattering the peace of this scene, Chinese air force pilots quickly scramble to their planes. The video features China's latest fighter planes, including the Russian-made Su-30MKK multi-role fighter (or possibly the J-11 or J-16 fighters—the three are so similar it's difficult to tell them apart). Also included is the J-10 "Vigorous Dragon" single engine fighter. The Chinese fighters valiantly engage a mysterious enemy fighter force and are victorious. QUOTE Next, at 4:19 the JH-7 "Flying Leopard" ground attack planes move in, presumably as part of a counterattack. At 4:34 the HQ-9 air defense missile system—roughly equivalent to the American Patriot PAC-2 missile, is visible, helping keep the skies free of enemy planes. 4:44 introduces the KJ-200, sort of a miniature version of the American AWACS early warning and command and control plane. Finally, H-6K bombers pound enemy ships with sticks of bombs. The video shows differences between how the Chinese Air Force and U.S. Air Force portray themselves. The video is big on Chinese fighter pilots marching in formation to their planes, while cry fromAmerican pilots swaggering in ones and twos to their Raptors, Vipers, and Hornets. USAF pilots are shown as heroic individuals; Chinese pilots issue exacting commands to their nameless wingmen ("No. 3, drop height"). QUOTE The video does mix things up at times. A shot of a J-16 fighter launching an anti-ship missile quickly transitions to an exploding airplane. The video tells a story—broadly speaking—but there is no way to follow individual pilots and planes—which in a communist air force is probably intentional. Despite China's aggressive stance lately, the video is strictly defensive in nature. China is attacked, the air force beats the enemy, and the air force goes home. End of story. http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/w...nese-air-force/ |

QUOTE(James831 @ Apr 28 2016, 09:41 PM) If the Abu Sayyaf problems spills into manila, peenoise might be more open to large scale Military action with others country against sulu militants . other.... is most probably the master... unker sam.. there's a distrust of muslim nationspeenoise in for another slaughter? Aquino vows assault on Abu Sayyaf after Canadian's death ![]() MANILA • Philippine President Benigno Aquino vowed yesterday to launch a military assault aimed at "neutralising" the Abu Sayyaf militants who beheaded a Canadian hostage and are holding more than 20 other foreigners. "Casualties are to be expected. But what has to be of utmost importance is neutralising the criminal activities of the ASG," he said in a statement, referring to the Abu Sayyaf Group. Mr Aquino released the statement after the severed head of Canadian John Ridsdel, kidnapped seven months ago from aboard a yacht, was dumped on Monday on a street on Jolo, a remote southern island that is one of the Abu Sayyaf's main strongholds. ![]() "This murder was meant to terrorise our whole population. The Abu Sayyaf thought they could instil fear in us. Instead, they have galvanised us even further to ensure justice is meted out," he said. "We have always been open to talks with those who desire peace, but those who commit atrocities can expect the full might of the state." He did not give a time frame for the assault. Abu Sayyaf militants, whose leaders have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria group, are holding more than 20 foreigners captive. They include another Canadian and a Norwegian man who were abducted at the same time as Mr Ridsdel at a marina near Davao, the biggest city in the southern Philippines. A Filipina was kidnapped as well. The group is also believed to be holding a Dutch birdwatcher kidnapped from a southern Philippine island in 2012, as well as 14 Indonesian and and four Malaysian sailors abducted over the past month. Mr Aquino said the captives were under the control of Radullan Sahiron, one of the Abu Sayyaf's founders who is famous for losing one arm in a battle against the military. He said Sahiron had consolidated his forces around himself and the captives in Sulu, a small Muslim-populated archipelago about 1,000km from Manila. Jolo is the biggest island in Sulu. The Abu Sayyaf is believed to have just a few hundred militants but has withstood repeated US-backed military offensives against it, surviving by using the mountainous, jungle terrain of the southern islands to its advantage. ![]() AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE |

QUOTE(KLboy92 @ Apr 29 2016, 01:10 AM) You may be right. We'll know when Pinoys start asking Vietcongs and Singkies for help. Until then, it seems they are only willing to talk to US or faraway countries like Japan. vietiong n singkies have no interest there and would not provoke unnecessary attention... japan hv not much interest there too besides rubbing shoulders to piss prc and maybe weapon sales it the amercans... |
