QUOTE(SSJBen @ Jun 1 2016, 04:16 PM) Yes, an external power amp. Many things need to upgrade though, the projector is the first one (it's still only a JVC 720p lol). A newer pre/pro and at least a sub upgrade. QUOTE(sonerin @ Jun 1 2016, 04:47 PM) |

Still the best bookshelf I've ever heard are the Sonus Faber Olympicas. I don't think they are the best in the world, but certainly to my ears; still the best thus far for me.
That said, we need you-know-who pockets to afford them. |

I have been using rear ported speaker for last 5 years compare to another pair of speaker I used front ported for 3 years. I will say the bass part is not much different but of course they are different speaker. You can't really compare Apple to apple |

QUOTE(sivanathan04 @ Jun 3 2016, 01:06 AM) I have some doubt the sound difference between rear ported and front ported bass is it so obvious I mean the bass part.... If you want to go technical, the differences can be listed down a long list of paper. But in real-world and subjective hearing, the difference are much more down to preference and usability.People would use front ported bookshelfs/towers/sats if they absolutely need to place it right up against the wall due to space issues (very common in SOHO or studio apartments). This prevents port flaring for one and bass can be increased due to the close proximity against a back wall (again in a small space, a sub may be difficult to place). But if you were to place a pair of front ported and rear ported speakers at the usual optimal location (2-3ft off the back wall, 4-6ft off the side wall), the differences are usually down to preferences of the listener. In fact it's difficult to even compare apples to apples because a rear ported bookshelf design cannot have the same properties as a front ported bookshelf even if they are from the same manufacturer, done by the same designer and integrated by the same engineer. I mean the front baffle itself would already need to be different in shape and size vs a rear ported box. Not to mention countless other things like the crossover, the phase, the size of the driver and so on. It's simple physics, you just can't bend it. |
