QUOTE(arslow @ Oct 2 2022, 11:28 PM) QMS and QFT are not supported by any source, sink or repeaters at this moment. Currently there are no official certification for repeaters (AVRs and pre-pros) to get those features officially working. Honestly any HDMI 2.1 display can easily enable those features right now if they wanted to, it's just several metadata flags that needs to set. Not a complicated matter. That said, IMO QMS at its current state isn't really a silver bullet. It reduces screen black outs related to source re-sync to sub 2 seconds. Sounds nice on paper, except there's a big gotcha: if the source changes anything else within its EDID like resolution, bit-depth, enabling of HDR and so on, the source and repeater STILL needs to do the old traditional way of HDCP handshake. The only scenario where QMS works the way it sounds is if the user changes the refresh rate on the source and/or the display, this is because QMS uses VRR to do the quick-sync handshake between devices. So.... yeah, QMS is whatever right now lol. Not a big deal having it or not at all. arslow liked this post

Hi guys, my Yamaha RX-V677 just went dark, shutting off every few seconds...
guess i need to get a new one. can anyone recommend me a new replacement? my requirement: 1. it should have at least 2 zone. 2. zone 2 prefer to have subwoofer output if available. at least subwoofer pre-out for a Active Subwoofer in Zone 1. 3. Spotify 4. at least 120w per front channel, using wharfedale obsidian 600 5.0 speaker and a Pioneer active subwoofer. budget around RM3.5k. thanks for any advise. |

Falls within your 3.5k budget, but unfortunately its HDMI 2.1 implementation is gimped since they're locked to 24gbps only. If you have no use for HDMI 2.1, then it's not a terrible choice per se considering how shit the ringgit is at the moment. An alternative is a Denon x1700H but that breaches the RM3.5k a little bit. |

Dirac Live Limited and Dirac Live Full is kinda pointless honestly speaking. While it can (emphasis on "can" not will) do a better job than Audyssey, it is pointless because neither of the Denon or Marantz receivers will have the much more important - Dirac Live Bass Control.
Dirac Live limited and full does not do multi sub optimization, where as Audyssey XT32 does. So that's the toss up. The bass region is much, much more important to EQ (below 300hz) simply due to how long low frequency waves are. You cannot use Audyssey to optimize your subs, then use Dirac live full to PEQ the rest of your speakers above 300hz (up to say 1khz). They are mutually exclusive to one another. This means the best of both worlds would be to use REW + minidsp (or any other external DSP) to manually optimize multi subs, then use DIRAC live to do its magic between 300hz to 1khz. That's a lot of money and not something the average joe knows how to do to begin with. P.S - Dirac live limited and full is old news, even bass control is quite old. The new black magic Dirac is conjuring up is Dirac Spatial Room Correction. None of the Analog Devices SOC on the newest D+M AVRs is apparently powerful enough to support real time room correction. And yeah I was expecting QMS to be THE sliver bullet which reduces the black screen duration significantly even when there are both frame rate and dynamic range change haha. Guess that's not gonna happen anytime soon.Currently there are no official certification for repeaters (AVRs and pre-pros) to get those features officially working. Dirac Live Active Room Treatment is coming in Spring 2023
By treating all the speakers in a room as a single system rather than as separate units - something the company calls ‘spatial optimisation’ - the room can be cleared of bass decay to provide a clear, less-smeared listening experience. ![]() https://www.avforums.com/news/dirac-announc...rac-live.20462/ https://audioxpress.com/news/dirac-live-act...ound-boundaries This post has been edited by Skylinestar: Jan 7 2023, 02:47 AM |

Too bad it's exclusive to Storm Audio only, at least for this year.

Cheaper parts, even higher margins…either that or denomination “accidentally made the 3600 too good and have now realigned how good the 3 series should be as that table (for what’s it’s worth) shows that the 3600 is only slightly below the flagship 8500 voscar liked this post

Does anyone have any idea if the upcoming 2023 Sony AVRs will be available in Malaysia?
For sure Sony Malaysia won't be bringing them in... just wondering if the home theater shops will (or if they are able to) Very seriously considering getting the Yamaha RX-A6A very soon... but I actually prefer the Sony STR-AZ5000ES This post has been edited by munchoong: Feb 9 2023, 09:26 AM |

No one bringing Sony AVR in because there's no distro for it, meaning there is also no after-sales warranty support since Sony MY doesn't acknowledge their AVR as an official product in this country. For sure Sony Malaysia won't be bringing them in... just wondering if the home theater shops will (or if they are able to) Very seriously considering getting the Yamaha RX-A6A very soon... but I actually prefer the Sony STR-AZ5000ES |
