I just called Unifi to do an upgrade from VIP10 to UNIFI 30.

I got the RM179% + 6% GST, free Hypp TV , 30 MB Download and 10 MB Upload.

However, I no longer have the free call but I see some here say they have free call ? How can we request it or what is the criteria to get it?


Secondly, the price is 179 is promotion price, but after 2 years will be back to 199 , is this true for all?

Thirdly, I been on stock router since 5 years plus ago, since I am using the 30 MB package now, is it necessary for me to get a better router , and what is the suggested router?

no need since my nas got torrent already. basically my nas use for media server, torrent, storage/cloud server running 24/7

Free cal I'm not sure but some ppl didn't get free call anymore but mine still got. If u want free call there is an option iinm the package is RM20/month. Not sure also about the price, coz didn't reach the '2 years' and I think MAYBE when the time comes, there is new package that more interesting.
About the router, YES please, please use aftermarket router rather than stick with TM router..

Mind to share what type of NAS that u use? I wanna try it.

just simple2 NAS should be ok... hahah no need like more than 1k...

so far just thinking to buy dlink 320L and WD red 2TB x 2(thinking to make raid 1)... all amortize for each month... hahahah need to wait for 3 month then baru happy...

It's been slow for me.

i use synology, but mine just entry model only DS213j. already served me well more than 2years.

1. About free calls has no idea on it.

2. Usually they wont revert back to 199 after 2 years but the term n conditions can be changed from time to time according to them.

3. Is okay to use the stock router. But since you have upgraded to 30MB, you can request them to change a new one for you.
There is need no to have better router if you didn't run any QoS or some servers hosting.
However, i would suggest u go for Mikrotik for advance settings , ASUS for simple , straightforward n easy manage.

My Unifi finally ok-ed yesterday, the technician finally willing to come after 4 days no internet And turn out the problem is due to broken fiber cable (can't tell its patah from the outside), due to gap of my door keep pressuring the cable.(hey last time the installer install the unifi like this, not my fault)

What I heard ASUS RT-N66U is one of the best.. But the price abit high.. Currently I use TP-Link TL-WDR4300. Working perfectly for years.. It depends on ur budget..

I'm using asus rt-ac87u... Serving me well for more than a year already... I'm using it as a nas and torrent downloader with a 2tb hdd... Contemplating to buy a standalone synology nas aswell...

Find a torrent file and install a torrent client? I'm using Xunlei though I only torrent once in a blue moon.
