Then how about this official figure from Honda China...cropped from Paultan. Conflicting right...they tune higher to make US customer happier is it.  sweat.gif

"Only one engine is available for the Chinese-market Civic for now – the 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo unit which produces 174 hp from 6,000 rpm and 220 Nm from 1,700 rpm to 5,000 rpm and will go from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. As for transmissions, the Civic can be specified with a six-speed manual gearbox (the first market to pair a row-your-own transmission to the turbo mill) or a CVT."

If im not mistaken, the original articles(in chinese) stated 0-100km tested in Drive mode while most Usdm civic reviews were using S mode to achieve 7.2s.

0-100kmh always takes longer than 0-60mph. Also, real world test in warmer humid climate countries will not match the numbers in cooler countries, especially if the A/C is also working.

I think it is abundantly clear who Honda is aiming at with this design language, and it's not the mature buyers.
*
Most manufacturers are going with more radical design language rather than bland as the demand is for exciting designs even for mature buyers (see the latest Mercedes and Lexus designs).

What is nice (based on reviews) on the 10th Gen Civic, is Honda not only put innovation in the drive train but the overall car is bigger, more comfortable, quieter, practical, full of tech and efficient. Mazda only focused on the drive and handling, but most reviews criticize the 3 for lack of NVH, comfort and practicality.

First thing first, do you study why Mercedes shifted their design language?

Tempting enough! Most concern will be the CKD quality, what features to be included in order to cater <140k, and the taboo of being the 1st batch

Lemme guess....to move from an "uncle" image to a more dynamic and youthful design philosophy to attract the younger crowd ?

There are sporty, exciting designs and then there are rice designs.

To each his own.

It does matter if you are trying to achieve the best 0-100km/h. How long the gears hold can affect this time.

Anyway this obsession with 0-100 time is academic unless you bought this car for drag racing.

Booked (RM1K booking fee) Silver colour, top spec. Was told it would be below RM140K. Love the pic on Paul Tan's website - showed me what it will look like on the road biggrin.gif

Same here. Go for top variant with bunch of safety features. Did salesperson provide you any cash rebate on top of the price?

Your booking fee is low. I thought more than RM100k vehicle required at least RM1000 to reserve a vehicle.

Japanese cars with the modes only remap the throttle response. Nothing else changes. Hence if you plant your foot down it's the same.

On the contrary.

More youngster is becoming rich, to a point rich enough to afford luxury car.

The German giants are accommodating that void in the market.

According the the Hire Purchase Act, the booking fee CANNOT EXCEED 1 percent of the car's price. If the car is RM130k, the dealer CANNOT accept more than RM1.3k.

The Act does not stipulate the minimum amount. The dealer can charge RM1 for booking fee if they want.

Last time when I was buying an 80k car I wanted to pay my SA RM1k, he declined citing the above rule, and only took RM500 from me.
