i just took out my faulty msi mobo's northbridge heatsink in attempt to lap it laugh.gif but found out that there's a square pad and the thermal grease in the middle.could that be a thermal pad?unsure.gif

and another thing,on those chips that has thermal grease on it how do i clean it up?is it safe to use alcohol? laugh.gif
*
those square pad are thermal tape, commonly use on chips

u can use a tissue, but better use artic cleaner cause it will clean all residue on those chip

I mean the instuctions given in the nanofusion. The instruction says to use the template that was given to me. But the template size doesnt seem to fit on a thermaltake btvx. If i do use the grain method, would it be correct for the nanofusion?

Btw, what does "Lap the heatsink so they get it smoother" means? Do i have to lap it first and then only use the grain method on the cpu?

though it wont short circuit your board but it will do a minor damage if you leave it too long. try not to spill alcohol on your comp.

Well, its ok considering that RM25 can last you quite a while. And i do not feel wana take the risk in using other type of alcohol that potential can damage my proc...So, i would say,RM25 is well spent here...
