I've tried using WinAVI Video Converter to convert RMVB files to .avi format. but everytime i try, the converted .avi file only has sound and windows media player has problems playing it. besides that, the original file is around 80mb, the converted .avi file is 11mb only...pls advise...thanks.

I tried encoding n transcoding ie did some dvd authoring lately.

Among the few programs i tried were TmpGenc or something like that. Problem here is ..
ALot of the avi formats... when i try 2 load... they'll say: Unable to load... not recognisable .. bla bla bla.

U guys experience the same thing? Wat software u all use?

I was trying to use WinAVI to convert RMVB to AVI using DIVXMPEG4 codec..
but everytime i do so, WINAVI crashes...

I tried converting using XVID, it finishes but the file is corrupted...
any idea what's wrong?

Anybody knows any tool to convert AVI/MPEG to RMVB? I have a few Xvid and DivX files that I want to convert. A simple one and easy to use.

I used to have one program that I really like to use.... but since I already uninstall it long time ago and deleted the installer.... totally forgot already the name

Why would you want to convert it to .wav?

just use the nero to open it & direct burn it.

If you want fast then I think Winavi should be good for you but if you want good quality, dvd quality and wants to put about 6 hours of video into one DVD then get D.I.K.O. Its free and quality is one of the best. Speed wise will depend largely on your system. It should take about 40-50 minutes to convert a 40 minutes avi to dvd format.

As for recognising your avi, you need to know what codecs is your avi. Download avicodecs to check your codec and if not available it will direct you to place where you can download the required codec.

Your codecs not install. Get avicodec and install it to identify your codec. Usually you need xvid and divx codecs installed.

You can use DrDIVX but m2v is video only stream. You can rename it to mpg if DrDivx cannot recognize it.

wav is an audio file unless you want to extract the audio into wav, there no software available or heard of that's capable of converting video to video wav.

why i use TMPGE convert RM file to MPEG no sound one?

You need to extract the audio from RM cause your built-in audio converter cannot extract RM audio. After extracting to MP2, then you mux them back using the MPEG TOOL of TMPEGENC
