If you want fast then I think Winavi should be good for you but if you want good quality, dvd quality and wants to put about 6 hours of video into one DVD then get D.I.K.O. Its free and quality is one of the best. Speed wise will depend largely on your system. It should take about 40-50 minutes to convert a 40 minutes avi to dvd format.

As for recognising your avi, you need to know what codecs is your avi. Download avicodecs to check your codec and if not available it will direct you to place where you can download the required codec.

Your codecs not install. Get avicodec and install it to identify your codec. Usually you need xvid and divx codecs installed.

You can use DrDIVX but m2v is video only stream. You can rename it to mpg if DrDivx cannot recognize it.

wav is an audio file unless you want to extract the audio into wav, there no software available or heard of that's capable of converting video to video wav.

You need to extract the audio from RM cause your built-in audio converter cannot extract RM audio. After extracting to MP2, then you mux them back using the MPEG TOOL of TMPEGENC

hmmm...illegal procoder. Original will come with the dongle. Use DIKO if you want good quality and free. Else download the patch for procoder to disable the dongle.

Check your source avi audio codec. Do the avicodec on the source. Usually if your source is MP3 or AC3 VBR, then you cannot use TMPEG to encode the audio. If this is the case, then you need to use Vdub to extract the audio from the avi to wav format and then use Besweet to encode it to MP2 format. If this sounds complicated, then get DIKO and your problem solves.

Use dvdlab to author then burn.

Very easy one. Get VCDGEAR and convert your dat to mpg. And then use dvdlab to import your mpgs. Then burn into dvd. dvdlabs support vcd or svcd streams to author as dvd files.

What mpg format exactly you are burning? VCD, SVCD, DVD, KVCD, KDVD etc..?
If your conversion in TMPEG is based on TMPEG standard template then you should have no problems else you need to make sure that the format is supported in your dvd/vcd player. As for burning, in Nero preference, just select option accept non-standard format when burning.

First of all your video got sound but in ac3. Download ac3filter and you should here sound. Gspot shows you have the codec. Try use avicodec instead.
What did you use to convert to vcd? With ac3 you need to have the right tools.

try use avifixed to repair your file. usually this tool will repair most corrupted or damaged or incomplete avi.

1. Convert your avi with tmpenc but just select video output and no audio output.
2. Use vdub to extract the audio from your avi. Use save wav function. Rename the wave to ac3 once it is done.
3. Use besweet to re-encode the ac3 to mp2. make sure that you use 44100 output because most ac3 is 48000 which is good if you doing dvd.

if all fail, then i suggest you download DIKO from www.vmesquita.com to the conversion. you will have less pening.
