An honest newbie question. What's the benefit of going fire stick 4k, compared to using the WebOS apps?

You can't install VPN apps of your choice to WebOS. Without the VPN, you can't watch geo restricted programs.

Yes, correct. It pretty much supports a lot of apps natively. I’m using nord vpn, able to stream Hulu, Disney plus, hbo max and also sling tv. It’s cheap and good basically. Also, it helps to transcode the dts audio in its plex app, but LG native plex app keeps buffering if need to do that (cx doesn’t support dts... zzz)

Noted. You can set up Nord VPN in Firestick? I see, I always thought SmartDNS was the only way, or having a VPN compatible router.

I have tried both on my WebOS. The SmartDNS never work and the router VPN slows the entire house's Wifi down drastically.

My setup. Fire Stick for geo restricted programs. For faster response etc, I use WebOS's own apps.

You can also try Android TV box (I also have but never liked it) or the latest Chromecast

Thought I continue to share, I’ve been fiddling around since cx doesn’t support dts. Best setup so far is to use the LG webos native player , setup plex server and stream from it. Use ffmpeg to add ac3 to your mkv files, you’re set smile.gif

Hi guys, the LG BX 55 inch at Rm5887 is a good deal? & is it a good time to buy? Replacing my NU8000 55.

Or should I just get the CX at Rm7197? How different is the two? The CX supports 2.1?

Anyone tried Airplay on the CX? I’m getting a lot of stutter, wish it could work. Would be pretty useful.

Hi guys,

Appreciate your opinions on this, since this is a LG thread. I may be changing my C8 soon because I am moving house maybe before end of year. I am a TV guy, meaning I can leave the TV on for more than 10 hours a day even if I am not watching anything.

Input mainly Netflix, Youtube, PS4 and PC (RTX3070). I used to like watching soccer live on TV, so my only complain for LG is the motion flow seems not as good as Sony. But then again my Sony is LCD so not a fair comparison.

Based on my input above, do you think I should still get a OLED? Seems like all my inputs to TV doesn't justify a OLED and the long hours mean LCD better? I am used to webos already and find it quite good compared to Android. So do you think I should go for Sony X9000h (or if you know of anything better?) or LG CX? Or even other brands like Panasonic where I read pic best in some reviews? I normally buy TV one cycle slow, meaning the last model after new models come out. Which I think should be around June to Aug this year.

So appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks. Oh I might be getting 65 inch this time for my TV room or master bedroom.

Sony X90H can see blooming. Once you see it, it cannot be unseen if you are picky.

Having got an OLED and after watching it for sometime, I wondered, what is the fuss all about. They just look normal and nothing spectacular.

Then I go look at LED and I again remember why I purchase an OLED.

That's how things go.

Correct. First few weeks feel wow this oled picture is outstanding. After few months, feel meh. Then watch back on LCD, feel glad bought oled.

I'm still mesmerized by the OLED after several years of usage in my completely pitch black HT room. Turn off the lights, the picture is just floating on from a black void. Speakers at THX listening volume, subs rumbling my spine. Completely sink into darkness and just be absorbed into the movie.

LCDs simply cannot do that. The blooming is hilarious in a pitch black room.

Projectors are the next best thing, but too bad most of them (the sane level pricing ones at least) still cannot do HDR properly.

You sound a lot like me. Listen to the other folks here. You won't go wrong with OLED.

Any news on when LG will be launching the C1 Oled TVs?

Hopefully and fingers crossed they will bring the 48 inch in this time. Perfect to be used as my PC monitor...

The problem for me is, there aren't that many great movies. And it can get boring watching pristine quality video of birds and landscapes etc.

There are many great movies, you just need to widen your horizon a bit. I'm not even talking about modern day movies btw. Try watching the golden age movies from the 80s and 90s, the ones that are remastered.
