Hi guys,

Appreciate your opinions on this, since this is a LG thread. I may be changing my C8 soon because I am moving house maybe before end of year. I am a TV guy, meaning I can leave the TV on for more than 10 hours a day even if I am not watching anything.

Input mainly Netflix, Youtube, PS4 and PC (RTX3070). I used to like watching soccer live on TV, so my only complain for LG is the motion flow seems not as good as Sony. But then again my Sony is LCD so not a fair comparison.

Based on my input above, do you think I should still get a OLED? Seems like all my inputs to TV doesn't justify a OLED and the long hours mean LCD better? I am used to webos already and find it quite good compared to Android. So do you think I should go for Sony X9000h (or if you know of anything better?) or LG CX? Or even other brands like Panasonic where I read pic best in some reviews? I normally buy TV one cycle slow, meaning the last model after new models come out. Which I think should be around June to Aug this year.

So appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks. Oh I might be getting 65 inch this time for my TV room or master bedroom.

You sound a lot like me. Listen to the other folks here. You won't go wrong with OLED.

There are over 1000 titles here, majority of them are great - https://www.criterion.com/shop/browse/list?sort=spine_number

I don't believe you've watched even half of them, correct me if I've assumed wrongly.

This is a nice list.

I only know silence of the lambs, armageddon and a couple more thats all. lol

Wahh... really?? My house 9year old Sharp Aquos TV kena thunder... sending for repair now.... not sure can get repair or not doh.gif  doh.gif

Now thinking whether want go for 65" CX, cheapest I can get is RM 10999. Also considering Sony X90h..... in dilemma now.... The price almost by 1/2. bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif

Get C1 or CX. X90H is no match for CX. Get a good TV and be done with it.

48" CX gets just 50 bucks cut lmao. USD 1449 x 1.07 (assuming 7% US sales tax) = USD 1550 (~RM6300). Original RRP was USD 1499 (+ sales tax after converted is ~RM6.6k).

The 55" CX actually gets a lot more price cut relatively speaking. From USD 1799 to USD 1349 in a lot of retailers.

Surprisingly 48" C1 is sold out in a lot of retailers in the US, 55" and above are widely available. Even the more inferior US model with no 120 hz and HDMI 2.1 48" A1 is USD 1299 (~RM5.7K)

Like Convael said in other thread, MY retailers hardly follow their pricing, I believe the C1 will be quite pricey in MY even for the 48".

I think the 48" cant be more or equally expensive as 55". Malaysian market is mostly about size/price. Unless they bring in 48" just to satisfy gamers. With the lack of rtx3080, forget about 4k gaming.
*
yeah I meant the demand for 48 even for the CX and the relative price cuts.

Of course 48 RRP cant be higher than 55 be it anywhere. biggrin.gif

Are you sure you don't mean Panasonic ?

Sony is pretty typical thesedays , stagnant , arrogant and overpriced .
The HDMI 2.1 features update last year has yet to be fulfilled and looks like they plan to continue on that route for 2021's models too .
At least LG is always catching up , plenty of firmware and feature updates .
*
I think they abandoned the hdmi 2.1 VRR fix for the X90h 😭

Just purchased my 55 CX for 5.8k. Abit late but it's my first OLED. I was hesitating between the CX and C1 and A80J.

I feel like C1 and CX like not much diff for the extra RM2K+.

Too bad wont get it delivered till mid october until reno is done. laugh.gif

Do you think this thing is a waste of money or I should just let it be handled by a professional?

https://shopee.com.my/X-rite-i1Display-Pro-...d=0&position=-1

Feels like getting it just for my leisure time interest?

Depends on how often you are going to calibrate your display .

Display pro is sufficient if you are only planning to calibrate OLED displays and typical monitors , if you also plan to tinker around with modern LCD they have display pro plus which can measure up to 2000 nits + .

You can use Lightspace DPS or HCFR which is open source and free .

It is the best option at this price range until you are going into the professional field like spectromaster or Klein K10 which often cost way more than a flagship TV .

The i1D Pro+ is better and would be preferred (IMO) for those trying to DIY calibrate. The standard Pro version is still good enough of course if you want to save some money.

Also, if you're planning to calibrate yourself you need to decide if you want to:

1) Use Autocal, which requires a purchase from Calman

or

2) Manually calibrate, which means you may want to buy your own pattern generator (you can use the internal pattern generator from the TV too), meters, CalMan suite for LG workflow.
Personally I don't think it's a waste of money, because I recoup the cost by doing calibration for other clients too. But if you're just doing it alone as a one-and-done thing, it's not cheap. Hiring people to do calibration btw is not cheap either during these COVID times. And no I'm not doing any calibration jobs either these days.
*
Wow PD pattern generator so damn expensive. Perhaps I will try out calman home software + i1 display pro plus and let the TV spits out the pattern generator.

Thanks for your advise.

Am using Samsung Q950T right now.
What's ur setup ?

Mine is Xbox SX connect to TV HDMI4 (audio setting there passthrough is ticked)

TV HDMI ARC/eARC to Samsung Q950T (soundbar will show eArc)

Under LG TV sound setting, these are the scenario:

1) using HDMI ARC , eArc on and using Auto  = i can get Dolby Atmos for Home theater, however this might result some delay sync in some games.
2) using HDMI ARC , eArc on and using Passthrough = i can only pick uncompressed 5.1/7.1 and unable to choose bitstream out under xbox series x.
*
I am using the second option. Under CX sound settings, HDMI ARC, eARC on, DTV Audio "Auto", Digital Sound out "Passthrough". I am able to get Atmos for Gears 5. But the audio lag is simply too noticeable. So I switched back to DD on xbox SX settings.

I have yet to try AV sync adjustment though.

What's ur hardware setup, bro?
*
No receiver. I am just using Samsung Q600A soundbar. Xbox Series X --> LG CX, Soundbar --> LG CX eARC. Then setup like my previous post for the CX part. On Xbox, passthrough, bitstream are both enabled. I can choose Atmos for home theater.

But because of the Atmos audio delay issue, I reverted back to DD but even that also got slight lag. You can even notice it when scrolling the Xbox menu.

Under your CX, you mentioned your audio there setup using eArc + passthrough and still able to pick Dolby Atmos for Home Theater.
Which i am unable to pick for my Samsung Q950T unless i choose Auto instead of passthrough, hmm ..

Dunno who at fault here  doh.gif
Xbox or Samsung  sweat.gif

Hi Guys, I just got a 65 inch CX from Desa home.

RM9k + Air purifier RRP RM3300 ( which my relative is going to buy from me @ RM2500)

Is it a good deal or should i have waited until i move to my new home i.e Jan / February 2021 to get a new TV ?

And will it be compatible with Samsung q600a soundbar ?
*
I purchased the 65" CX from other merchant for 9.8k on 20 September. I submitted to LG https://www.lg.com/my/merdeka-rewards (due date is extended to 15/11 now, initial due date was 31/8 then LG just keep on extending) for the purifier redemption and only received the confirmation on mid October via email. Last week I emailed LG and they told me that they will fulfill my redemption around mid to end of November. So total process takes around 2 months to redeem from purchase date. It is not a speedy process at all.

I am not sure if Desa Home mentioned this to you, the 65" CX free gift single booster air purifier is limited to only 150 units btw.
https://www.lg.com/my/promotions/merdeka-st...ome-sales-terms

I am using Q600A. Yes Dolby Atmos works with CX eARC for netflix etc. If gaming with xbox then you will get audio lag. I suggest you get Q700A and above or straight go for Q950A. The Q600A software update can only be done via USB and it doesn't recognize my USB format initially. I had to reformat the USB and tried multiple times to get it to work. For Q700A and above, you can just update via Samsung Smart things.

Just bought a LG 48" C1 with manufacturing date Sep2021 made in Indonesia.

Anyone having issues playing Astro 4K movies? I get an error that says that TV does not support HDCP 2.
*
only for those manufactured sept/oct C1 and G1. You should get update very soon.
