My hario handgrind seems to have some weird sensation, like off center when i grind.. the grind result is still ok but I have a feeling it is going to fail soon, anyone experienced such situation before?

By design it has always have axial wobble because of gaps and plastic parts. You probably just aggravated an existing condition biggrin.gif
Time for an upgrade I say!

Hi,

Just wondering, other than beanshipper and perkcoffee, where do you guys normally buy your beans from?
Any other online store to recommend?

so after owning the delonghi ec3321 for 2+ years
finally able to pull latte art lol
gives me something to do during the MCO and while i save for next upgrade

what i done to the machine is:
1) replacing the basket to non-pressurized
2) removing the pannarello wand and then zip tie then rubber wand in place

my routine:
1. turn on machine -> steam mode
2. grind beans + tamp while waiting
3. once steam is ready, turn to brew mode and let the hot water run into my cup to preheat it and to get to optimal brewing temp. stop when brew light turns off
4. start shot extraction when brew light on.
managed to get 30-35s shot including "preinfusion" using 18grams in, 36grams out. can also do 1:2.5 at 45s

5. turn to steam mode, when steam light is ready, purge the first batch.
6. froth the milk by injecting deep into the milk to get initial spin
7. once i get steady spinning, i lower my pitcher to introduce air. afterwards, i move the pitcher upward to stop introducing air and heats the milk
8. requires two (three if include initial purge) batch of steam to get milk to proper temp

so if u got a cheap ass machine like mine, u can try my method to get the best out of ur machine.

My 10 year-old gal has attempted to do more than 100 cups of Latte art. This one that am sharing is the best so far.
Brewing and milk steaming still by myself.

anyone own a nuova sim oscar ii?
can you comment on whether the 15 bar brew pressure affect extraction? like how hard is it to dial in, etc.

I'm using this at home and I can say extraction is inconsistent. Due to the pressurestat design inside, temps are not as stable as PID. It tends to overheat and shoot steam out from the brew head. I believe this is causing chanelling for me because I could see holes when reviewing the puck post-extraction.
I just ordered a new IMS shower screen just to see if that can help

ims screen wont help

dragon machines need to get amount of flushing and waiting time just right before each pull...

i tot the oscar 2 was improved with musica's gigleur to help with temp control...this control the right mixed of hot and recirculated cooler water to the puck...most of the people mod oscar 1 with a different pressurestat, opv and musica's gigleur... anyways from your description is still superheated, the simple way to bring down temperature is more flushing...just need to master the flushing/waiting...

i have a different "bigger dragon" automatic machine, and so i program one of the brew buttons for volumetric flushing before every shot...no chanelling or holes unless i screw up tamping... wink.gif

I bought my timemore slim (not the chestnut)few months ago and still love it. (i hope i still can unbox it again, feels like unboxing a phone lol)

Upgraded from the hario skerton plus. The difference is night and day. grind is very smooth and consistent.

yep it's unstable the way it's designed, i've heard on reddit they have a modding of somekind to stabilize the grinder (if you have a 3d printer).

I got mine off shopee ,it's not the G1 tho, I went for the chesnut slim because the G1 has a wooden base which I don't really like.

Have you watch the video by hoffman yet? (might help you decide)

Maybe it's actually more consistent and what needs to be done here is to open it up and dial back the pressure stat to a lower setting.
Don't mind losing some steam pressure in favor for better water temps without steam coming out from the brew head instead
