anyone used this milk before for your latte/cappuccino?

i've been using farmhouse all the while but the MCO doesn't really give me the luxury to go a little further to get them =(

I previously tried Dutch Lady's full cream milk and it is paaaaaaaale in comparison.

Actually regular fresh milk is the best unless you're looking for a really really creamy taste

Over fatty/creamy milk is not that good for delicate single origin coffees as it will have tendency to overpower all the flavor notes of the coffee and all you're tasting is just the milk and remaining bitterness of the coffee. No flavors

You're comparing UHT milk (Good Day above, Dutch Lady) with fresh milk?
The ability to foam may be similar, but the taste is very different at least to my taste buds. I've tried Good Day UHT and if anything it's for backup only, I will try my best to get fresh milk.

I've been able to source Farm Fresh (in Giant) and Farmhouse (Tesco) so far.

I use mostly blends, somehow they appealed to my buds more.

not sure how to express it in words. dutch lady doesn't seem to give the "body" which i seek in my coffee and also, the scent of the milk after steaming just isn't that fragrant (compared to farmhouse).

Not sure about other brands though but for farmhouse, their fresh milk and their UHT variant are both UHT treated, just different temperatures, at least that's what I read from their press release but yeah, i agree, their fresh "fresh milk" does taste waaaay better then the their UHT variant.

I can travel to my nearby AEON to get them (fresh milk) but I don't think it's the right thing to do now (MCO) just to drop by and get 2 containers of milk so I'm seeking the next best alternative which I can get from the convenient store located just a stones throw away from my home.

I typically don't buy Farmhouse as I prefer to support the local farmers. Having said that there is a huge difference between pasteurization on fresh milk that kills bacteria and UHT that changes the texture and flavor of milk. I'm quite sure the fresh Farmhouse goes through pasteurization and their UHT goes through the UHT process

I was on UHT as well, it definitely works although getting micro foam is a bit more hit and miss I think

A lot of UHT milk is reconstituted from powdered milk if you check the ingredients.

my experience with dutch lady is exactly like yours. the microfoam breaks down quickly and not sure how cow smells like but dutch lady does have a very strong "milk" scent.

I love good day fresh milk for anything from cereals to my daily latte fix. Froths very well on my tiny boiler consistently and it has a rich creamy taste. Alternatively, farmfresh is also pretty good but is slightly less milky/lighter.

Hi guys,

I have been doing coffee with aeropress, french press, staresso and 1zpresso y3.3 for few months now...Wanted to invest in a good coffee machine and grinder after this MCO... For grinder i will be looking at the eureka mignon since my friend is using also...He recommend me to get the niche zero but the price different too much... For machine, initially i consider lower end china brand such as gemilai.. But after googling around i think i will up my budget for a better machine since i will be using this for long term... After looking around, i am looking at wpm kd310 / oscar 2 / breville dual boiler.. My friend recommend me to get the breville dual boiler because it is better than wpm kd310 thermoblock in terms of temperature control...However, my friend did told me that breville cant last very long... I am keen on the wpm kd310 because it kinda look like rocker which is classy... Can any1 share their opinion with me whether is the breville dual boiler is a better choice than the wpm kd310? btw i did read at facebook that the oscar parts spoil very often..

I've had my BDB for 4 years already, I replaced the o-rings myself several months ago. I like that it can get to a stable thermal state very quickly and it is incredibly flexible. I also like that there's a large community globally that has the BDB and has gone through any potential problems and have documented easy DIY fixes including the o-rings and solenoid replacements. I expect to keep the BDB for the forseeable future.

Are you someone comfortable enough with minor DIY? Go to other coffee forums, see what other people have done to fix their KD310, Oscars and BDBs and the common problems all of them may have. Check where you can get spare parts.

If you're not comfortable with minor DIY then you're entirely dependent on the store to fix your problems for you. No mechanical machine that goes through high temperature/high pressure cycles daily will last very long without regular maintenance. Good luck

guys, I am using the delonghi dedica espresso machine and aeropress to brew my coffee.

i am looking for a coffee grinder that is more for espresso machine because I am using the kg89 for both brewing tools.

I am thinking either to go for breville smart grinder pro (RM1.3k) or delonghi kg521 (RM 800)

Is there a difference between these two?

or anyone can recommend me other coffee grinders?

I am using KG89 too, there is a mod/hack to turn your KG89 into Espresso-grind grade entry grinder... youtube got demo...

I also have a Eureka Mignon; to knock out the majority of grounds I usually tip the machine backwards a half inch or so, then let it fall forward. In addition, tilting the machine forward by about 45 degrees while grinding the last bit helps a great deal....makes it closer to a Niche Zero.

For another option, you can try James Hoffman's Coffee Hack: no more static.

Hi friends,
I continued from this message posted a year ago because it mentioned exactly the problem that I have. I found this in attempt to a solution to my grinder.

Each time (nowadays) I will take out about 22g +/-. It's not a Niche Zero, so you can tell it will turn out less that 22g. Can't remember since when, I started tilting the grinder and found out that it has a lot more at the chute. (pic) so I will usually get enough. Anyway, I also have a small cup for the extra to add / minus to get to exact or +/- 0.1g.

Today I found this useful mod. Please check it out and share your opinion.

I saw this method from Caedo E37SD using cut off bellow on the top. Use your palm to seal the hole and press down to blow out the grind. When using Macap M4. I use a small paint brush to sweep the chute for any leftover grind. Or try to use absorber rubber cover and cut to size. If you have a 3D printer, that would be easy to custom print a connector to your grinder.

For sub 3k budget,

Should i get rancilio silvia v5 (1year old) at 2.5k or brand new gaggia classic at 2.8k?
Or is there other alternatives?
