Samsung got a model below RM3K? I guess it was the obsolete model, and not the latest S8.

For RM3K, got a few choices. Cheapest is LG. Then, Tosh Regza follow by Panasonic and Samsung.

The Samsung 32" below RM3,000 I was referring to is the LA32S71B (which is already almost phased out). In fact two months ago I was already offered the price of RM3,000 by Mediaplex and a few other places after bargain, although most of the other shops were priced at RM3,399/- or similar.

Pull up a bit ur budget as Sharp 32" AX series has just dropped its price.. RCP: RM3199 now.. U nego a bit should able to get less than RM3100 by cash..

*Pls note that AX series dont hv PC input (RGB)

Added on May 31, 2007, 5:43 pm

Ya..Courts is clearing the S7 Stock now..but i also dont recommend that model as it has only 170 viewing angle.. Thus, Samsung dont have 32" below RM3k price tag now..

Samsung LCD has great outlook with its piano finish but it has dust and finger print problem..  doh.gif

It's better to get the R8 as it has a higher contrast ratio and 3 HDMI inputs. drool.gif I believe it's the only LCD with such specs at the moment and the R8 has very good picture quality but the sound is a let down but not as issue if you're using an A/V amp, if not, invest in an external Yamaha subwoofer for Plasma / LCD tvs.

Yes and I think most of us will utilise HtiB or AV system for the handling of audio. So, not much of an issue.

if you have extra 444 then you can consider Sony's S200 or someplaces offering V200 at RM3999. 32" LCD. Think its quite sharp and rich in colors as it comes with S-PVA panels.

I ended up with Samsung's R81 32" which comes with a CMO S-MVA panel at RM3850. htkaki is selling at RM3800 if I'm not mistaken. Can check with him.

Not sure about other brands as I normally go for these 2 brands but inter alia, I find Sharp and Panasonic to be quite good as well. Maybe you can consider them as well?

Jusco seems to be offering 50% discount for hitachi plasma.

If switch on 12 hours a day...life span will be around 10 to 13 years.

If contrast and brightness set to the above normal...it will probably be less than 10 years.

htkaki, will samsung warranty be void if I access the service menu and change settings?

Also, what if I do not change anything but I just access the service menu. Will that void my warranty as well?

I am thinking of disabling dynamic dimming for samsung as I heard it reduced certain issues like the blacks in dark scenes(movies)

I'm using Sony DVP-NS76H, it plays ahem dvd flawlessly including those poorly mastered copies which are warped or scratched. Picture quality via HDMI is acceptable, the picture quality is overall pretty good, with no jaggies, progressive scan is pretty smooth. I'll recommend this player anytime. If you're fussy about picture quality, you'll need to consider Denon 2930 but it's an expensive player and might not be able to play all ahem dvds because it doesn't have the dynamic tilting feature like the Sony player so warped dvds will be a problem for this player but it upscales to 1080P and one of the best HDMI players from Denon.

Anyway, Sony DVP-NS76H is a good player, worth considering, I got it at RM590. Not expensive for such a player IMHO.  thumbup.gif

i can agree with this.. the DVP NS76H is great, as well as this, pioneer and phillips are great brands with good reputations.

I think Sony is best overall however. they look good, have good features, good build quality and have good remotes as well smile.gif

Actually, we have tried many... demo only, not buy la... but seems the Sony is most reliable. The Philips output was still ok but Pioneer... strangely was not as good and many condemn it.
