hi guys.. i'm fairly new in this forum.. but am actually a rather seasoned salesman on LCDs.. i've worked in a few places like SenQ, HSL and HN.. i've worked as a Philips and a Toshiba promoter..

so honestly if u ask me what brand to buy in terms of PQ for astro now.. it would definitely have to be Philips.. especially their high end products like the CINEOS awesome.. their lower range LCDs are only soso..

for the average user, i'd always recommend Toshiba.. as it's cheap, simple and nice design and PQ is great too when compared to the likes of the Sony V and Samsung.. additional stuff like the free one year insurance is a bonus for end-users as this is the only brand that offers the insurance..

Sharp is also actually a great brand as the LCD panels used by them have the 3D 6 base colour adjustment.. Toshiba also OEM from them.. but rather pricey.. would advice anyone out there to get the Toshiba instead as u're actually buying the same thing but at a lower price.. but of cuz sharp has it's pluses like 2 HDMI output etc..

Sony is always overpriced.. but recently saw a shocking drop on their price.. as rumour has it that they OEM their panels from Samsung.. might be industry rumour.. but from what i've seen, the Astro enhancement mode is all BS.. their quality can't even fight Phillips on Astro.. dun waste money unless u going for the X series.. even that is not 1080p.. only 1080i.. best 1080i lcd now is still Toshiba 47" at 11k++ cheapest in this range.. 1080p dun buy yet as super pricey.. like sharp 16k++(if i'm not mistaken)

Samsung.. where should i start.. for all the Samsung fans out there pls dun flame me k.. cuz IMO as a sales person, Samsung is the BEST brand to make money from.. but the lousiest brand to buy for end user.. as Samsung has done a fantastic job in their marketing department.. all the cool designs and extra-BS attraction.. super high contrast which does not much use actually.. and BS game mode to attract more customers.. their PQ on Astro is at the same par as LG(which is great for it's price).. and alot of customers feed back is that their after sales service is lousy.. beware and dun get tricked by their designs and stuff.. pls opt for other brands but Samsung..

LG.. won't comment much la as it's not worth mentioning besides the fact that it's cheap.. dun expect great PQ la..

oh ya.. among so many shops to buy from.. and i'll only comment on the big chains.. IMO HSL is the best place to shop as it will give u prices that are almost close to PDC price(cost price).. SenQ will always be more pricey then others.. but they do offer 1 more year warranty compared to HSL... HN is a one-stop get all place.. great that u don't have to go to 4 kinds of shops just to shop for ur furniture and electical appliances.. price wise.. still HSL better i think.. and beware cuz all promoters wear the same HN T-shirt.. so their sales pitch might be biased... and u might not even know it..

am currently working part time for Toshiba as a promoter.. so anyone who is interested can always PM me for info.. price i can't control much as it depends on the store to control them(but will try to fight for lowest price for u).. but i can recommend brand la.. i stationed mostly around PJ HSL in shopping malls..

i'm not making an attempt to convince anyone to buy Toshiba so dun worry.. just stating my observation after all these time so that no one gets cheated.. and to clear up any confusion.. but of cuz if anyone is interested can contact me la.. smile.gif peace..

I guess the active players in Plasma technology will be Panasonic and Pioneer, other brands seem to focus more on LCD technology these days. There might be a sharp drop in Plasma prices, I guess the limitation for Plasma is that it can't output in full HD resolution.

I was in emart@ Jalan Pasar. apparently there are many options of wall bracket ranging from Rm 120 to rm 2xx cash n carry. BTW, it's not too difficult to DIY provided that you have the tools.

Finally got my 1st tv yesterday.....and it's a LCD  tongue.gif

Bought Sharp PX5M 32 inch. After comparing all the big players PQ on astro I and my wife agreed that Sharp and Toshiba are the best.Becoz the difference using composite and s-video not so noticeable (for amateurs like us  tongue.gif ) so we decided to go for the Sharp. Other reasons are :

1. Freeze mode (my wife really attracted to this feature very much  biggrin.gif )

2. Better design

3. Automatic backlight control (manual control my user also possible).

4. Replaceable backlight lamp

5. Fastest respond time in the class (6ms)

6. Extra 1 year warranty by Sharp  rclxms.gif
p/s : Thanks all for all the advises and opinions  thumbup.gif

Now the price is RM3990...the best price they could offer me.....damn tempted leh!!!! drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif

Here is my observation from HN.....Samsung intends to have higher contrast ratio compared to other brand and it cause my eyes like this ---> blink.gif 1st then ----> cool2.gif end of life....Panasonic totally out of question in the same range of budget....I think the worst among the rest, how come Panasonic did so badly?? shakehead.gif

Sony got the best PQ but then that time I found out they were using HD-DVD to play video..nowonder the PQ superb la hmm.gif sad news for Philips, they don't really promote the brand laugh.gif and thinking of clear the LG LCD at 2899 for 32"......better grab it fast as I see the PQ not that bad with the price offered..

Sharp...speechless...clear and CLEAR and SUPA CLEAR!!!! no questioning about their PQ and seems to fit my taste....gonna get one soon!!!

I got my Sharp 32PX5M for 3800+400 (for 5 years warranty, SenQ). Then they gave me RM200 petrol voucher. But if you plan to get this you should oredi have some decent speakers, the built in ones are *ahem* but then again so are most others...

It only accepts 1080p signals but the panel itself isn't capable to display a full HD picture. Yes, I admit that their prices are way out of wish. What I like about Pioneer is the capability to display inky black pictures with natural greys too.
