For dvp5986k, the unsupported resolution will be unselectable or u can just set it to auto.

Can anyone share their experience dealing with Legend SS2...am about to place an order but still not very convince that they will give me a brand new set...afraid they will swap with a display set or something...paranoid
How's their after sales service?...are their installer helpful to show you around the menu of the TV?..are they helpful with connections to yr other source like DVD, HTS, Astro...
Cheers!!!

I noticed Sharp 42" PX5M or BX5M only has HDMI ports which are 1080i. While the Sony 40" S310 has HDMI 1080p ports.
How important is 1080p HDMI port on a HD-ready TV? Do I lose out many features on 1080i HDMI ports?

Does it mean that with the Sony S310, we can plug in 1080p BluRay, while with the Sharp, we cannot even get the signal thru?

Just bought Phillips DVP5986K from ESH in Klang at RM390 and hooked it up to my Sharp 37A53M..
Played few dvd using the HDMI and upscale it to 1080i and the picture you can really see the difference compared using only the component video cable.
However, can you play divx movies from the USB port? Try it yesterday with my external hard drive, but no success.

My friend Multimedia HDD player can only be used with FAT32.

no lar...for the S310 it will accept the signal as 1080p, then deinterlace it to 1080i
for the sharp, u will be inputting directly 1080i input, tats it
poorgeek, these are just gimmicky things, din worry to much abt it
its either full HD or just HD tats it, those inputs signal dun worry so much

Thanks rx330 for your advice. As everyone else, I am personally having a hard time selecting a LCD that displays best for Astro.
Toshiba 42A3500E - max HTPC resolution is 1280 x 768 Sharp LC42PX5M - no S-video Sony KLV40S310 - poor PQ on DVDs
Sigh! Going crazy with this. :( Anyone's opinion will help.
I am considering buying obsolete model Sharp LC42BX5M with S-video. Anyone has this model who can share experience with Astro, DVD, HTPC?
Thanks

well to be frank... no matter which u choose above, astro will stil be crap, S video, theoritically shud look better, but in real life, u cant really see the difference
btwm all those models above, i will pick tosh over the sony, and will leave sharp out of it, the px5m aredi quite an old model aredi, the tosh is quite new, read some ok reviews, adn the sony S is their entry level, i heard the PQ sucks
