I say very difficult. Have been scouting SIN-AKL for some time last year and it's very hard to get. If possible get one confirmed in suites, one confirmed in business, upgrade if/when suites open up. Same thing with me in 2014, had confirmed IAH-SIN and one waitlist JFK-SIN in first, JFK never cleared so I took the IAH-SIN.

Planning to redeem my miles for Vancouver next year... Now collecting the last 20k miles needed for my plan. Also timing for MAS enrich promotion..

So far my routing looks like
MAS : KUL - NRT (hopefully on their new J class) ~ 77k per pax (30% promo) + RM 337.80 Tax

JAL : NRT - YVR (Booking under OW redemption, Zone 4) ~ 96k per pax + ?? tax

Have another option which is to book straight all under OW with JAL which based on total mileage travel is 8k miles which is under Zone 6. Routing is the same which is KUL - NRT - YVR. Is the mileage redemption calculated as each segment (ie KUL - NRT, NRT - YVR) or as a whole? If individual, then i think the miles required would be quite expensive already...

If KUL-NRT-YVR is in one PNR ie. not separate tickets then it'll be calculated as one flight. Webflyer says it's 8010 miles one way.

yea. 8k miles distance one way. OW redemption on single carrier in MAS is zone 6.. so return is 144k per person.. Looks like cheaper to redeem direct from JAL.

If I want to redeem using oneworld Multi-Carrier Awards Chart, it is any different using Asia Miles or Enrich? I think Enrich is better option because now have 10% extra and can visit MAS local office directly.

I saw the conversion chart about the same for both airlines. The fuel surcharges will be charged based on the airline in the route rather than based on royalty program used, right?

Thanks smile.gif

Got limit of 2 carrier + Cathay. MAS has limited route thus i guess not popular choice.

The limit is for Enrich or AM?

From the website, it seems like no limit.

Enrich:
Multi-carrier redemption on oneworld member airlines (for award flights on two or more oneworld member airlines)

Asia Miles:
Two oneworld alliance airlines, where Cathay Pacific or Dragonair is not included; or
Three or more oneworld alliance airlines when Cathay Pacific or Dragonair is included.

fantastic route! but sorry don't have alien miles to spare, lol

just did amend my 2nd AMOWMC route ... just wonder will 2 back2back open jaws allowed

KUL-oKIX(MH)-oHKG(CX)*-oAMS(CX)-oHKG(CX)**-oJFK(CX)-EZE(AA)//MVD(2hr ferry)-GRU(JJ)//GIG(7hr bus)-xJFK-xHKG-KUL

* & ** purchase separate HKG-KUL 2x

Main award: 440k AM for 2
Additional HKG-KUL: 200k for J, or 120k for Y tongue.gif

Avoid YQ desparately...
KUL-KIX = no YQ based on enrich (not sure AM)
all CX route no YQ if check separately via AM
all AA no YQ if within Americas
all JJ no YQ nod.gif

Need some guidance.

I was searching for F award availability on Emirates for DXB-KUL and vice versa.

Qantas seems to show availability but when checking on Alaskaair site, F wasnt available but only J (itin shows up as a mixed cabin award, for eg, LAX-DXB in F is available but only J from DXB-KUL).

Alaska's website doesn't allow itineraries that don't originate or end in the US. So KUL-DXB will probably not show up and will not be bookable. At least in my experience.

If you're doing KUL-DXB-LAX then you should be able to get seats but you'll have to poke around the dates to get a full F award, I don't have much clue on when Emirates releases their F award seats but I frequently see the mixed cabin award when I do my own search for KUL-DXB-JFK, sometimes even F + Y biggrin.gif

Got a few itineraries that I'm not sure where to credit to...

CX CMB-HKG-EWR in Biz,
AA JFK-SFO in Economy,
BA KUL-LHR-LIS in Premium Econ.

For 2017 status, which would be the best to credit to?
American, British or Alaska?

AA and BA status would mean more miles/2 status years respectively, but Alaska also has its benefits if I get MVP 50k.

That's what I was doing, searching on Alaska for LAX-DXB-KUL and vice versa. All i'm seeing so far are mixed classes, no issues getting F on the LAX-DXB leg but the DXB-KUL leg usually ends up J or Y. From there i started searching Qantas and was able to see F awards for the DXB-KUL route but Alaska's system cant find them.
