Please be informed that Eastspring Investment Berhad (“EIB”) has performed annual review on all their funds to determine the financial and performance efficiency of each fund that they offer. This exercise is conducted using a product analysis framework across all Eastspring business units where the outcome of the review is used to assess existing funds and map future product strategies.

With that EIB has made a decision to rationalize Eastspring Investments Asia Pacific Shariah Equity Fund (“the Fund”) through a soft-closure process.

With effect from 14 December 2015, we will cease accepting monies for subscription (including switching) and will remove the fund from our platform. Meantime, redemption and/or switching is allowed till further notice. The Fund shall no longer be offered to Financial Institution Channel with effect from 1 February 2016. For more detail, please refer to the enclosed notification from the respective fund house which dated 17 November 2015 and 24 November 2015.


For unit holders who have Regular Saving Plan (RSP) arrangement for the above mentioned Fund, please note that the RSP will be terminated with immediate effect.

what will happened to EIB asia pacific shariah after 1st feb? force sale?

Consider switching to Eastspring Asia ex Japan Target Return Fund.

I talked to an EI agent. He told me that this fund was created after the current fund manager joined the fund house. The other fund is older and could have been sidelined by now.

If I'm not mistaken, the funds may look similar, but they are managed by different people. EI Malaysia funds that have a foreign mandate but have "MY" in their name are managed out of Singapore. Also they have a similar SGD fund with the same name (without the "MY"). The other funds without, are managed here.

I'm not sure about who the fund manager is, as EI does not generally attached manager names to individual funds, but the current CIO is Chen Fan Fai. He moved from Kenanga to EI in 2013.

Clueless about Aberdeen Islamic World...just hold it IMHO.

Eastspring GEM...need it for some diversification and exposure to EMs esp BRICS. Just keep the exposure low.
