how is the tax paper today?

Not bad Not bad ..
But questions about servce tax got problem to answer .
Pity now can't choose question, so have to do all ..

oh no mine f7 and i am just starting revising now =(
so scared to fail....
so blur at everything la...
for provision why must we unwind a discount and how to do that? so blur la me...
next semester must really start early

ACCA fall in which category ? Category (iv) is MIA ? After 3 years experience, can qualified as MIA member?

i have a question to ask here...
negative goodwill on subsidiary we need to credit to I/S.
but for the negative goodwill on Associate, wat should we do when using equity method..
is it we COI + share of post acq profit + negative goodwill?

I believe there's no negative goodwill for associate my dear
Or you mean premium?
Associate will just deliver one thing in group B/S that's Investment in associates RMXXX under column of non-current assets. -> Comprises of cost of investment and post - acq profit.

But the past year(june 2007) im doing now, over the suggested answer there , the examiner shows that the carrying amount of associate should calculate like tat. the method he use is COI + post acq profit + negative goodwill.because i never saw this before so need to confirm here.

is that kelayakan to join the government right? they dont really give damn u acca or master or what. u start below along with those degree holders (all will start at grade w41) and you have to wait ages to get promoted. ppsss: dont want la. money not that good anyway. hoho

1. coi + post res of H% - goodwill imp ------------> not -ve goodwill but goodwill impaired. different ok
or
2. FV of NA at ye of H% + goodwill not imp

eh... june 2007? glove, body and fit? where got associate? i dont see any associate. no -ve goodwill also

glove owns body 80%
glove owns fit 56% indirect method

Giving up on F8 already ... way too much to study

Hi.. Im not sure ur asking which tax paper, but i shall assume u asking adv taxation rite.? since ur ckw main supporter..

Anyway, the paper was quite fair.. But, first time under richard that he wrote an articles in oct n it didnt out.!! All tips didnt come out as well.. Questions really all emphasis on theory n explaination alot, computation consist of bout 15marks only of the paper.. Some questions (Q2, Q3) quite indirect n im not too sure wat he wan us to answer.. overall, i think ok.. conclusion, never spot anything in acca, especially this paper.. haiz..

reading time 3.00-3.15pm
exam time 3.15-6.15pm

somehow the question is the goodwill should be fully treated when calculate total COI - FV of net assets, why you have this negative goodwill later?
**Goodwill + FV of Net Asset = Cost of investment FYI...

Is it goodwill impairment?

i think if u jus become ACCA member and did not join MIA,then u belongs to (ii)
if u join MIA liao,then is (iv) o (ii) lo..

that is not necessary to discount the provision as long as the provision is paid not more than one year later..
If the provision need to discounted, the question normally will give the discount rate or market rate...

For example, when the provision need to be paid at 2 years later is 1000 (discount rate = 5%)and the amount in the B/S should be

Year 1 = 1000 / 1.05^2 = 907 PLUS interest for the year =907x5%=45.35
=952.35
Year 2 =952.35 +(952.35x5%)=999.9675
=1000

Figure different due to rounding error..so at the end of the year 2 is should have 1000 in the liability which is the amount expected to settle the obligation..
