My previous department/service line will always chase for update internally maximum 2-3 days after interview. Adding the overhead from Talent team (which typically very slow) you can anticipate between 2-3 weeks until the final result. Don't be afraid to email your assigned contact person from talent team.

Good luck!

It’s almost one month after my last interview with the hiring manager. Hr did come back to me couple of weeks ago asking for 3 months payslip for further process. Haven’t heard from them after that, dropped an email to follow up but no response also. Does that mean no hope already? Will they even bother to drop a formal rejection email? Sigh

Unfortunately majority of HR (at least in Malaysia) don't have proper etiquette to give a formal rejection letter.
You are entitled a rejection letter/email, at least for someone who already interviewed with SM. If its just initial screening no need la for rejection letter.

But yeah dude, rule of thumb if you followed up and no answer more than one month most likely rejected.

Precisely, that’s what I would have expected. But anyhow, HR just responded to my email and informed me their partners are looking for project demand to bring me in and will revert to me. At this point I’m not sure what does that suppose to mean lol. Could it be they are still arranging internally or not sure if that is a signal of rejection??  Guess I should just move on la sigh

You applied to consulting? To give you context in consulting you are hired on a project basis..so if a project requires analyst and all the current analysts are on a project, then they will hire you. If there are other analysts on the bench and you are not needed, then they don't need you. Hope this is easy to understand

So perhaps the firm you applying have a pipeline of projects which they think would require analyst(s). Hiring manager / project manager will work with scheduler, and recruiter to determine the need for it. Most likely they will try to make sure their current analysts are all filled up first, then only look for external hire.

Analysts KPI is utilization, meaning for a single financial year, all analysts need to hit 75% and above for project utilization and remaining 25% for other activities. If not the firm is wasting money on analysts.

If you have other offers don't wait for this one. If not, wait and see.

This is a common rejection reason by consulting position as they don't need people at this moment or you don't meet their specs. Project managers need to perform almost immediately and not much time to hand hold or guide you.

Other common excuse:
1) You will be in waiting list when project opens up
2) We are recalibrating/ restructure resources and will contact you if any opening
3) We will contact you when the project materialised or expanded

As post above me mentioned, I think move on if you have another opportunity.

One thing you should bear in mind is that beware of HR cutting of the agreed amount of salary.
When I was in the compensation discussion during my hiring process, the recruiter and me agreed on the value of compensation after back and forth discussion. But when the offer letter came, HR (or talent) cut 15% from the total nominal. I didn't know about this and initially blamed the recruiter. But the recruiter mentioned that the offer for the salary all need to go through HR (which know little to none about market value of my skillset).

I checked with few of my colleagues on my sub service line and they also experienced the same problem above. Looks like it's their tactic to press further on the salary.

I see, unsure about KPMG but usually would be within 2 weeks. If they reply your queries I think it's positive.

Wanting to find out how the working hours for Financial Advisory departments (Deal Strategy, Valuations, Corporate Finance, Transaction Services) differ from Audit?

If not mistaken, have read somewhere that it is more manageable?
