QUOTE(Oklahoma @ Jul 17 2021, 02:25 PM) What are the requirements or what they seek from the candidate? I've applied to two of the big4 for bout a month but not getting reply yet (deals and consulting). For info, I'm from a top public uni in the country, currently undergoing assurance internship in a big 4 till August and aiming to start in Sept. |

QUOTE(sunbearau @ Jul 18 2021, 01:33 AM) From what ive seen, MY likes to hire seniors / experienced associates for their advisory departments. Might find better luck doing a stint (1- 2 years) in assurance before making the switch over Yes, that's what I've been hearing during my study, was a plan to get experience prior to making a switch. Then heard from some seniors saying it's possible to join as fresh grad and did found some positions are opening for fresh grads, hence would like to try. But since your already doing internship at at a big, best bet is to get a partner to refer you. Thanks for the suggestions, perhaps I should try asking for referrals then! QUOTE(Ms Americano L @ Jul 18 2021, 03:14 AM) Thanks |

QUOTE(ZeroZeroZero @ Aug 27 2021, 08:40 PM) Is it normal for kpmg to take more than 1 week to reply after interviewing with the manager? Tried to call the recruiter after 1 week he said need 1 more week to process. Which role u applied for? I think it's normal for 2 weeks. I'm still waiting for updates from another big 4 too, been 2 weeks. |

QUOTE(ZeroZeroZero @ Aug 28 2021, 05:30 PM) I applied for a tax position under gms, mainly doing personal taxes from expatriates. Cos my friend interviewed for other big4 they say they got the offer after 1 week so I was wondering why mine took so long I see, unsure about KPMG but usually would be within 2 weeks. If they reply your queries I think it's positive. |

QUOTE(pea @ Mar 22 2022, 09:56 AM) Hello, hope this is the right place to ask. It’s normal and if I’m not wrong, you need to pay in full for what they have incurred for youI’m wondering if it’s normal for those big 4 bonds for taking prof certification… if say the bond is 4 years; but I want to quit after 3yrs 8 mths… do I have to pay the full course amount of what they paid for me or it will be pro-rate? Thanks in advance |

QUOTE(Apek Wong @ Oct 5 2022, 01:17 PM) May I know what the Finance Services Industry Audit is be like, as compared to the manufacturing, construction or other retail industry audit. FS is dealing with financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies, PE firms, asset management companies etc which are typically more regulated. One example for bank audit, it would involve more on assessing the credit risks such as ECL; the audit report needs to be submitted to BNM as well, hence there would usually be two submissions This post has been edited by zz287963: Oct 18 2022, 08:19 PM |

QUOTE(Apek Wong @ Oct 22 2022, 09:47 AM) Hi... May I know for the case of probation in any of the big 4, is it usually people will be turning into a permanent staff? And, at worst will it be extending the probation period or being fired, if the work performance is not that good? Don’t think you will get extended or worse, being fired as I can’t imagine how bad you will need to be to put yourself in such situations. Just work the best you can, as long as you meet the bar it should not be a big problem. Mind sharing which service line you’re from, is it audit? Personally, I have not really heard anyone mention that they failed probation. As I said, just put your effort into the work you do, build and maintain good relationships within the team, it should not be a problem for passing the probation. Good luck. Apek Wong liked this post

QUOTE(Apek Wong @ Oct 22 2022, 08:14 AM) Ohh I see... Is it also meaning that there is a need to submit a slightly different version of audit report to the BNM right? Aside from regular audit report to the SC... Or that type of audit is just submit another copy of the audit report to BNM? Think there are differences between the two report, as there are certain requirements to be met for BNM submission if not mistaken. However, the work done carried out from both would be the same, just the timeline for submission would be slightly different as one would usually be earlier. I’m just trying to give the best from my knowledge, welcome more inputs from those more experienced to give you more insights Apek Wong liked this post

QUOTE(Apek Wong @ Oct 23 2022, 10:01 PM) Ohh... Actually, I got financial service audit offer in one of the big 4 (Nov start to work). I had my internship in a small audit firm (main engagement industries I worked last time: construction, property, manufacturing) previously for 6 months, and after internship the small audit firm welcomes me to go back there to work when I had done with my accounting degree. I see, some may find working in FS is not their preference as the exit opportunities might seem narrower (jump to banks for instance) but it all depends on individuals. Good luck and enjoy! As for the part of that previous I am asking about the worst scenario of the probation, in fact, I wonder how the worst-case scenario is, anyhow I still know all people will work for the level best lah... ahahahahahah... (*P/S: I rarely heard of this situation, so I might as well ask in this forum). |

QUOTE(Apek Wong @ Nov 27 2022, 01:37 PM) Hi everyone, may I know is it okay if say i work for like within 6 months to 1 year* in one of the big 4, and then I quit audit of big 4 to complete the rest of like remaining 2 papers of my ACCA (study gap, but maybe work on part time Grab/Foodpanda/Lalamove, or Promoter or Online Shopping business), then continue work in commercial after another 6 months - 1 year? My current job is my first job in audit after graduation from university, excluding my previous 6 months experience as Audit Intern (mandatory internship sem in Accounting Degree) in a small audit firm. Working in commercial after another 6 months - 1 year after the exam? Or right after your exam? You could do so but expect to start from entry level as I think the 6months - 1 year experience as external auditor doesn't really taken into account, think you would have much more bargaining power if it's a two years experience instead of just one. Then, expect to explain about your reasons for having that window between jobs.Th reason I planned for this is because I wish to have more time on finishing the remaining papers and i found that working in audit while studying is challenging, especially the peak period in Jan-April period... Besides, I am also not that into auditing, I more prefer normal account reporting in commercial. Tq... Apek Wong liked this post

QUOTE(Osho @ Dec 16 2022, 08:43 PM) I have 4 ACCA papers left and I gave up (Used to have 2 ACCA papers left but 2 passed papers got expired). What's your highest qualification so far? Is it the ACCA Advanced Diploma? Do you hold any degree? I am not 100% sure of this but I think from Big 4 perspective, it is either you have degree + pursuing / completed professional qualification; or completed professional qualification holder to be considered. If you have attempted the final papers left and is pending result, you might get a chance for interview and even conditional offer. If it is just ACCA Advanced Diploma (no Bachelor Degree) - which means you are not truly an ACCA holder (?), I think high chance you do not meet minimum requirement. And now considered that your passed paper has expired, which means you need to complete the all 4 papers to be qualified as ACCA holder. So your status now I think is not ACCA holder?I tried apply for big 4 with my current qualification (ACCA Advanced Diploma) and can't get any interviews (only phone interviews) I'm thinking of getting an MBA and using it as a qualification to get into Big 4. Is that possible? Does MBA helps? It might, depends on the university you went on to complete the MBA + role you apply to. For Audit, I wonder if MBA would actually helps. Nevertheless, you may find the program in PwC like the Earn While You Learn, which means you could work full time + continue to pursue remaining ACCA, but for sure the salary would be lower and not as standard pay a fresh grad is getting. |
