QUOTE(Chindamian1 @ Apr 3 2019, 10:57 AM) As a fresh grad with no intern experience, I find it extremely difficult to join TS within the big 4. How would you recommend for me to join TS? Currently, I'm thinking of joining audit then try to internal transfer to the TS line. What do you think about this? You can always try audit first then switch later to advisory. Most did it this way. For example, in EY, the current MP for advisory is from audit. This is very common even in banks where you can see people jumping different divisions to gain knowledge for the next career advancement. You may even change your mind later once you start working. Most people have a fixed mind when they join an industry but came out with different perspective once they start working. Thatβs why you see a very diversified career path.

QUOTE(Financier @ Apr 3 2019, 11:41 AM) Get an internship experience in TS then before converting to full-time. I would highly recommend you to network with recruiters and make it clear you want an opportunity at TS. Or Like what u said, join audit and ask for a switch to TS after a few years. Its quite common, in fact one of my supervisor did this. She joined audit, got her acca, then transferred to TS after a few years as assistant manager. Hi, are you currently working in TS? Which firm?

Speaking of which, how much is the parking rate? No season parking? I've heard EY employees will get RM13/day flat rate for the jln damanlela open site parking.

Hi, I did get an offer for corporate restructuring in a mid tier firm. I am afraid it will be difficult to switch from a mid tier firm to the big 4. Furthermore, I would like to know whether its possible to switch from corporate restructuring to transaction service line in the future. As I've asked all the big 4, they are currently looking for 1 year experienced hire only for TS.

Corporate restructuring and transaction service is under a similar department. Depends on case to case basis, no guarantees.

QUOTE(Milano7 @ Apr 15 2019, 11:55 AM) does a legal graduate have a chance to work in big 4? I thought legal firm offers: 1) Faster promotion 2) More challenging work 3) Higher increment (after mid-level) 4) Faster track to become partner 5) Less regulatory risk (unless you issue an opinion) I am talking from the perspective of corporate law

Hi guys, need your advices here
I'm in the midst of preparing for my final year exam and will be graduating this July. My concern is that I don't have any internship/working experience (not required to go for internship as per university requirement), so should I apply for internship first or full-time job?
- I will receive 9 Acca exemption papers from my uni and and will have to complete further 4 Advanced papers later.
- some people said as it's very hard to find job nowadays, I shouldn't waste my time seeking internship and as it is only for 6 months, you'll be involved in doing more admin work and are rarely involved in more 'detailed' works compared to FT employee.
- the pay is also different for interns and FT employee
Please advice me guys. Should I apply for internship after my final exam or straightaway seek for FT job? I'm interested to go into auditing first btw and hope to get sponsored by the company for ACCA, get bonded and move to commercial but in much later years. Thanks!

Full time, cause if you wanna get bonded internship doesn't count in the 4 years of bond and pay is different why get 1k when you can get 3k

Hey guys, need your advice if possible. I've received 2 offers (EY & PwC) and I'll be starting on Oct. Since I haven't make up my mind, I have accepted both offers because there is an expiration date for the offers. I plan to make up my mind and reject one of them after I graduate.
However, I was being told that if I were to do so, I would leave a bad image on the company that I rejected - despite the fact that the contract states I can do so at least 1 month prior to my employment date. Is it true that I would leave a bad name at the company that I would reject? :/
Thank you in advance!

Essentially you temporarily took away someone else's (from the same applicant pool as you) opportunity for the other offer that you would eventually reject. There is a fair bit of clean up to do by the HR if you reject quite awhile after you have accepted the offer. I would rather reject the other offer as soon as practicable. It looks selfish to me accepting and holding both. Just my personal opinion.

It is seen as an unprofessional behaviour, which shows the fact that you are not decisive/not interested in them to begin with, or have not done enough research prior to applying. If you have done your research well, you should have a "ranking" in mind which would be your first choice and so on.

Meaning people from different firms of big 4 knows each other, including the HR and the managing partners. And trust me, HR likes to gossip, and words travel fast between firms. What more, is EY and PwC, Im pretty sure HR of these two companies know each other. You're a fresh graduate and might already leave a bad impression. 3: This post has been edited by Financier: May 3 2019, 12:11 PM

Imagine both HRs from those companies talk and the name pops up, and they go like, heyyyy, wait-a-minute. You'll end up with nothing. Think about it, little one.

Hi guys, I failed to get into advisory within the big 4 and attempting to break into the audit of big 4. I am an ACCA graduate but I did not take the audit professional paper. I have applied for an internship within 1 of the big 4 for june-august period. I am hoping to get a permanent position within that company right after my internship. My question is will they allow me to go for the internship programme seeing how they only want students? And will it be possible for me to get a permanent role within the company provided I did perform during my internship?

Failed assessment/interview or just no reply? On ur internship its more likely that they would prefer students for internship. Why not apply for a permanent role right away?

Why not apply for a permanent role right away? i tried all the firms for advisory. they had no reply because the market is stagnant for deals right now. I decided to go for internship because most firms July intake are full and the next intake is on September. So instead of waiting for September to work and rot at home, I decided to do an intern from June-August and hope I get a permanent role right after that.
