QUOTE(Maggie95 @ Aug 4 2017, 05:22 PM) Hi guys! I am a recent graduate of acc and finance. I have always interested in joining audit field. I have just went to PwC final interview on 2nd of August. They say they will reply maximum by 2 weeks. During that interview, the senior manager kept on asking on past experience and how I dealt with the challenges and conflicts. I am not sure whether I will make it through. Anyone know how long will they respond? Besides, I just did KPMG online assessment on 31st of July. I still havent received any call yet. How long will they contact you? And also, I got accepted by Baker Tilly. They only allow me to respond to them by next week. I am in a dilemma now. Should I follow up with PwC next week? I need advice. Thank You in advance! Yes follow up with PwC, wait for KPMG and reject Baker Tilly. |

QUOTE(38kiakinjio @ Jul 29 2017, 08:09 PM) Thanks for your advice and trying to make me feel better. I have never thought that getting first class will make me better than others. In fact, many of my friends who graduated from local uni are able to secure their job in big 4, banks and other MNCs. May I know whether you are currently at the advanced level and undergoing training? You will be facing clients if you work in the BIG4s, and thus a good command in English should be mandatory.Besides that, my command of English is not good enough, especially in speaking and writing. I do have difficulties in speaking and writing fluently. Will it be a problem getting into or when working in big 4 ? Pls advise. |

QUOTE(PurpleGrenade @ Aug 11 2017, 11:00 PM) Hi, it is interesting to read the discussions here. Maybe the position you applied has already been filled.I got a call from one of the big4 and they emailed me a preliminary assessment, the assessment looks like a personality test and I answered it with my first instinct as the instruction required me to do so. At first I thought the result will only be referred by the HR to understand more about myself but I am extremely surprise to receive an email from them replying that the firm will not proceed my application anymore the following day after the assessment. The questions were all MCQ, very subjective with no exact answers for each questions. I am wondering how a firm can judge a person by only referring to the result of a 20 minutes test. Its quite upsetting... Anyone knows what are the problems or reasons behind this? I am just a little curious about it. Thanks |

QUOTE(tzxsean @ Aug 18 2017, 10:42 PM) Exactly, and in fact there are companies with higher starting salary than the BIG4.But from a long term perspective, do you think if I started out in consulting in BIG4, are my job prospects better than if I start off in banks but higher salary? One bank is offering RM5000 for fresh graduate for their mgt trainee program. Big4 is offering RM3100 for fresh graduate. Which one should I choose? Dilemma here |

QUOTE(Coffiegirl @ Nov 16 2018, 08:12 PM) Hi! BIG 4 Audit of course!Job offers - top 6 audit firm - corporate advisory vs big 4 audit firm - auditor. Which one is better option? Corporate Advisory in BIG 4 or other audit firm is a joke honestly. If you want serious corporate advisory, Investment Banks are the real deal. Also the fact is, it is easier to transfer from audit to advisory than advisory to audit in the future if you have different plans. |

QUOTE(Chindamian1 @ Mar 29 2019, 04:04 PM) Hi everyone. I am an ACCA graduate who have completed all the paper on dec. I've been unemployed since then and been thinking of a career path for me. So far, I'm highly interested in transaction service whereby I perform financial due diligence work. What worries me is that I will not have a good exit opportunities few years down the road if I join TS as a fresh grad. Secondly, I heard that its difficult to get into TS big 4 as a fresh grad. I do think I should qualified to join TS seeing how I've completed my ACCA papers all in one go. May I get some advises from experienced seniors from this forum. Thank you very much in advanced. 1) You definitely will qualify for TS since you have ACCA, and that you are able to articulate your thoughts well during the interview.2) With regards to exit opportunities, i have seen some TS peeps or Deals Advisory peeps (what pwc calls it) move into investment banking. But this is rare as the amount and quality of work in TS in BIG 4 is not comparable to a full fledge investment bank like Maybank or CIMB. To increase your chances of getting into investment banking after TS, get a CFA. 3) Aside from Investment Banking, some peeps in the field also managed to secure Big 4 placements in overseas such as Australia and Singapore. 3) Or you could enter commercial and join the finance department. 4) or move into management consulting or strategy consulting like mckinsey, bain, bcg. Again, this is very tough due to their vigorous case interviews process In the end, exit opportunities for corporate finance (CF) peeps in BIG 4 is abundant. Although the level of CF in BIG 4 is not as robust and intensive as a full fledge investment bank, it is still sufficient to grant you some high paying job opportunities in the future. QUOTE(Ballsbreaker @ Apr 3 2019, 03:41 AM) Which department would best help me if I were to have investment banking as a goal? I am currently talking to people at Deloitte and I am thinking if I should work in M&A, valuation or due diligence. All three are part of corporate finance. Boils down to what u enjoy doing. Google each one and see what sort of cf u prefer.I know I don’t have the grades right now to break into IB and that’s my fault so I will just have to do it the hard way. I also know it’s not guaranteed but I’m just wondering what’s the most likely pathway through the big four to land a place in IB. Get a CFA while working in Big 4 to really increase your chances. Although, this is very very tough..and there is still no guarantees u will get IB. This post has been edited by Financier: Apr 3 2019, 08:57 AM |

QUOTE(Chindamian1 @ Apr 3 2019, 10:57 AM) As a fresh grad with no intern experience, I find it extremely difficult to join TS within the big 4. How would you recommend for me to join TS? Currently, I'm thinking of joining audit then try to internal transfer to the TS line. What do you think about this? Get an internship experience in TS then before converting to full-time. I would highly recommend you to network with recruiters and make it clear you want an opportunity at TS. Or Like what u said, join audit and ask for a switch to TS after a few years. Its quite common, in fact one of my supervisor did this. She joined audit, got her acca, then transferred to TS after a few years as assistant manager. |

QUOTE(Chindamian1 @ Apr 13 2019, 05:41 PM) Hi, I did get an offer for corporate restructuring in a mid tier firm. I am afraid it will be difficult to switch from a mid tier firm to the big 4. Furthermore, I would like to know whether its possible to switch from corporate restructuring to transaction service line in the future. As I've asked all the big 4, they are currently looking for 1 year experienced hire only for TS. Yes it will be hard. The good ones join TS/Deals Advisory right after graduation. Corporate restructuring and transaction service is under a similar department. Depends on case to case basis, no guarantees. |

QUOTE(Bleacher1024 @ Apr 28 2019, 03:36 AM) Hey guys, need your advice if possible. I've received 2 offers (EY & PwC) and I'll be starting on Oct. Since I haven't make up my mind, I have accepted both offers because there is an expiration date for the offers. I plan to make up my mind and reject one of them after I graduate. Umm do you know the big 4 network here is quite intertwined? Meaning people from different firms of big 4 knows each other, including the HR and the managing partners. And trust me, HR likes to gossip, and words travel fast between firms. What more, is EY and PwC, Im pretty sure HR of these two companies know each other. However, I was being told that if I were to do so, I would leave a bad image on the company that I rejected - despite the fact that the contract states I can do so at least 1 month prior to my employment date. Is it true that I would leave a bad name at the company that I would reject? :/ Thank you in advance! You're a fresh graduate and might already leave a bad impression. 3: This post has been edited by Financier: May 3 2019, 12:11 PM |
