Just want to share that I've interned in KPMG in 2016 and applied again for permanent position after I have completed my studies. Applied countless times for their new job openings in audit and tax. But I didn't receive any interview invitation. My resume is good imo like 3.5 CGPA, president of accounting club etc. I thought since I've interned there it could help me, but I guess not

If you did, they would have asked you about potentially joining as a permanent. But anyways, IA is a lot better than EA in my opinion. Better work life balance. |

My senior gave me quite a good evaluation. It's just that back then I still have one more year before I complete my studies. But anyways, IA is a lot better than EA in my opinion. Depends on level and client base.If youre a fresh graduate joining the firm, dont expect to travel alot abroad. If youre higher level like manager and above, higher chance. If clientele is a MNC with operations around the globe sure, but if local only then no. |

QUOTE(oldlady94 @ Feb 8 2019, 08:35 AM) What's the status of the application? Just CV drop off or interview already? If it's just CV drop off then it can take a while because HR receives a lot of job applications everyday so there is a process for HR to review it first for vetting and then for the hiring manager to further review to decide if worthy for interview. If you already interviewed, then it depends on how urgent they need the position filed and the number of other candidates that they still need to interview. Could be 1 week or a month - but you should have asked that question during your interview on when you can expect an update from them. |

Thanks tho Usually the quickest way to get a response is if you know someone in the company that can help to refer you. At least your friend can email directly to the HR rep and the department hiring manager. Plus if you are an experienced hire, your friend can get a referral bonus and you can ask your friend to share the bonus with you. |

QUOTE(Ballsbreaker @ Feb 8 2019, 06:40 PM) Anyone here have experience with M&A Deloitte? I heard big fours mainly just do due diligence and don’t handle too many deals If you want to be involved in deals, the company must be a principal adviser registered under SC. Only Investment banks can submit all type of corporate proposals to the SC. None of the Big4 qualify to be a principal adviser. That’s why you don’t see their name / logo in public disclosure document.Investment banks also have all the license below: • Dealing in securities; • Dealing in derivatives; • Fund management; • Dealing in Private Retirement Scheme; • Advising on corporate finance; • Investment advice; and • Financial planning Big 4 only have the license to advise on corporate finance that’s why you see they mostly do due diligence related activities only. |

A car would be very convenient unless you're lucky enough to stay nearby a colleague within the same team and that person is willing to pick you |

QUOTE(searcher1106 @ Jan 20 2019, 09:42 PM) Well, I graduated many years ago, not sure the below experience still relevant. Thanks for your reply. I had my internship in one of the well known mid-tier firm before, and I joined one of the big 4 once I graduated from university. During my internship days, I was assigned to perform P&L testing, simple analytical procedures, review of statutory records and simple test of controls (SME engagement). My friend who had internship in one of the big four, he was assigned to perform P&L vouching (MNC and listed company audit). I believe that's the exposure part mentioned by your lecturers. Nevertheless, I don't think the internship exposure matters much for your future employment, since an intern will not be expected to involve significantly in the audit engagement. However, if you would like to get into big 4 in the future, maybe you should just apply for big 4 internship program. If you get to know some managers/seniors, you may get a referral in the future right. Just my 2 cents. Sorry for the late appreciation due to the reason of busy with my assignments previously... |
