We usually think the visas (at least for myself) as PR or TR. Do you satisfy the point eligibility for 189?

On your 3rd point, this is based on guesstimates using my own as well, very consistent with what Shazam gave u:

1. Internet - $70 monthly (just taking iinet as an example)
2. Water ($40 monthly on average; just beware that if you are a homeowner it wil be approx $100 monthly because of surcharges)
3. Electricity ($100 monthly average, winter would add anothe $50 assuming you're going to use heater during winter but don't go crazy on this)
4. Gas ($50 monthly average assuming you plan to cook and you use gas stove)

Houses in Melbourne has been rising a lot because of the increasing population and foreign buyers. If you dont mind living further out, you can get cheaper prices than the ones I've quoted. On the plus side, interest rates just dropped recently is expected to dropped furher in the 2nd half of this year. We're currently in a historically low interest rate environment.

Hi guys, just to confirm. Basically no visa is required if I were to go to Australia to activate my permanent residence for the first time? Also, when I arrive there, I don't have to queue at the visitors line when going through immigration right?

Thank you so much for your time Nemesis !

1) yes i think both also need to complete 2 years out of 5 I believe. But I don't get is, is it only after completing the 2 years only I would have a full PR ?

2) wow ?! really ? would you mind to elaborate how did ppl manage to do that ? because (correct me if I am wrong) most Oz companies will only start to consider you once you have a PR or you are a citizen ? how can I snag a job while still here in Msia ?

"Connection always played major role here" -----> wait i thought Oz is white country and in white country, cable no use one right ? its merit based ?

3) Nice !! thanks for the info, but I am aiming to be in Melbourne cause my the majority of my family and friends are there.
*
1) bro, do read up on the link i've given earlier, all the info is inside...
PR is permanent, but if you are not a citizen, you will need a visa to go into Aussie... completing 2/5 years only enables you to apply for an RRV which is an extension which you will again need to fulfill 2/5 years...

2) you need to have a PR first... another way is to ask for a company transfer

1) u already got ur PR dy. Just that when u come to RRV renewal, , they'll check whether u fulfill thw number of years in oz.
2) well, some of our friends here sponsored by company and worked here. Prepare to get paid peanuts . Once u hit 2 years, u'll eligible for applying pr that time.
Some ppl got the visa but has not step foot down under already got job offer. The funny thing is my friend is only spm holder, , found her job and get higher pay than her hubby.
That's why I said is luck sometimes.

If u hv better connection of course higher chance. In this world ppl tend to work with someone they know. Not some strangers creating drama later.

3) melb sounds good. Good luck

There is no need to apply another visa when u validate your PR.. Since u are already a PR. Just have a copy of your visa grant notice with you just in case they wanna check.

If u are still holding a Malaysian passport then I believe you still need to queue on the foreign passport lane at the immigration.

I think u need to be a bit more flexible.
The jobs market is tough. A lot of ppl I know have moved cities due to jobs.
I mean Melb is a great place, but if an opportunity arises in another city, will you die die want to live in Melb?

Then the immigration will put down red carpet open up a local wine to congratulate u finally made it to oz from Bolehland giving u jobs, houses and money to live here.....
Come on.....please wake up. There's thousands of immigrants here looking for job and make here their home. Back to the queue! Lol......
Why u think U're so special coming here?

I just bumped up with a rich malaysian guy who on business visa wanna fulfil 400k per annum turnover. He tot everything is ez and can go under table like what he did in KL. Told him many times beware and don't do it coz the authority is watching. Very arrogant person, thought he can make it thru this way. Now kena dy. Slapped with fines and summon. Happy la...

I dunno why there's a perception making malaysian thinks they should have special treatment here. Obviously money is the key but Chinese from china hv more money than u many 2 times.

So please don't tiao geh. Come and learn. Learn what the locals do. Adopt the ozzie lifestyle and enjoy it.

Hi all the sifus here,

Like most of ppl on here, I have been thinking of taking the leap of faith and migrating to Oz. I will be targeting on getting the 189. Will be claiming points for mech. eng. and targeting melbourne as I have most of my family and friends there. I am close to thirty. I have a masters and been working in the UK for awhile before this. After talking to friends and family, i think i have what it takes to grind it out at the start..I am not too worried about getting the 189, I am thinking a bit further..some of my questions ...

Thank youuuuuuuu
*
Hi Bro,
Why didn't you stay on in the UK instead ? Thanks.

Lol Nemesis. I'm not sure what you're on and off about on those perceptions. I was just asking what are the procedures when activating the PR for the first time and which immigration lane to follow.

I don't want to end up getting detained at my departing airport without proper documents or go to the wrong immigration lane when arriving at OZ. Simple as that.

Okok....my fault. Sorry about that.
Just met up some malaysian and Singaporean lately who's super rich and the attitude gone insane.

U won't get detained unless u bring 10k cash or drugs. Make sure no smoking marijuana b4 u enter....lol. They'll use a device to gosok ur body later to check or ask a dog to sniff or lick ur body...

Anyway, 1st landing no problem. Btw, make sure u do the following....pls write down:

1) open bank account. Use ur friends add.
2) get a ozzie mobile number
3) get ur medicare card done
4) TFN maybe
5) centrelink

Once u get these things done, u ask ur fren to keep the medicare and bank card for u until u permanently arrive.
These things will took u a mth to hv it so make use of ur time.

1st landing no holiday ar.... Plenty of time having barbecue or fishing when u arrive permanently

What I don't get it is many people have said life in Malaysia is still great and are still able to make lots of money but many people are still dying to migrate to Australia. After seeing the real life here many are still not satisfied. Are most people just following the crowd after hearing from friends and relatives how great life in Aust?

I have lived here for over 30 years and life is not heaven here.
I have seen many people having better lives in malaysia. After doing much DIY task here and raising a family while working all on our own, physically and mentally we are exhausted . I envy many of my friends and relatives not needing to lift a finger on any housework and even able to leave the children home with maids while they go on relaxing holidays.

I believe in order to improve life in Malaysia for everyone, people in the country should rise up and make things better. The current lousy government should be thrown out.

I usually do not like to review my private life in a very public forum. What I would like to express is okay to give up somethings in life n just be contented with what we have and thank God we are no living like refugees in many war torn countries.

The grass is always greener.

1. People in MY got no work life balance. End up chasing the RM at the expense of the family.
2. People in MY dont see a future there what with the race politics, "donation" mentality and cronyism.
3. People in MY cannot afford to send their kids to uni or worried about aged care/health costs.
4. People in MY sick of crime and everything money mentality.

Meanwhile ppl in Oz want to retire in MY/Thailand:
1. Less perceived govt control
2. Lower costs of living (esp after converting AUD to RM/THB)
3. Can be waited on head and foot because of (2).
4. Can eat CKT/pad thai 24x7.
5. Can travel to Asia just like that.
6. For divorced/single/separated men, additional incentive of chasing skirts in Thailand.

The system in MY will not change so easily. Even if whoever wins the next GE, it will take another generation to change everything around. And a lot of ppl will have to suffer for it.

Humans are never satisfied with what they have is the short of it.

Anyway just my 2c.

Hi guys,
I need some info on expenses and cost of living in Sydney. Specifically Hunter Street area.
This is to gauge expected salary should one move from KL to Sydney. The goal is to maintain similar quality of life. Will stay there for 2 or 3 years.

- Late 20 single male
- Zero cooking skill(eat out all the time)
- Zero entertainment(no drinking, movie)

##

Question
Lets say he
i) Earn RM8k in KL, what is the equivalent in Sydney?
ii) Earn RM10k in KL, what is the equivalent in Sydney?

Based on Numbeo comparison info
i) ~AUD8.5k
ii) ~AUD11k
Does this sound about right?

Are u sure u can get a job with that salary with no local experience? Just asking, dont know yr exact circumstance.

In Hunter Street, OK, city centre, $200++ for a SHARED room. $400++ for a single room. PER WEEK.
Eat out: ultra budget: AUD5 per meal. Standard AUD15 per meal. Suggest u learn to cook if want to save money. No cheap Bangla to make u wantan mee.
