I believe your degree + 5 years of experience can easily earn you double that salary if you are to jump ship.
*
i'm aware of that.
how do i begin to negotiate salary? i have no idea. any suggestions?

QUOTE(mytaffeta @ Jul 19 2016, 03:26 AM)
that is most ppl problem, too comfort with company but getting less salary.. jump ship, see if they counter..
*
yeah, i'm comfortable with the job, but not the pay in the long run. i do have hopes and dreams to achieve at certain years. but current pay doesn't allow it. so for the time being trying to generate some other income source.

QUOTE(daMuoYooHooB @ Jul 19 2016, 06:46 AM)
with the company paying for your studies, im surprised you're not bonded to them at least for a couple of years.

if you like working there, (work-life balance seems decent) negotiate to get a better salary.
*
how do i negotiate better pay.... please help me.

QUOTE(ZZMsia @ Jul 19 2016, 08:11 AM)
Bad work life balance in Malaysia- horrible hours..

suggest you to get another offer n see if they counter.
*
QUOTE(daMuoYooHooB @ Jul 19 2016, 08:13 AM)
his is alright. 8 working hours is pretty standard throughout the developed world. this is not scandinavia lol.
*
QUOTE(ZZMsia @ Jul 19 2016, 08:59 AM)
I was speaking in reference to other companies..His is GOOD
*
yeah, i have alot of time for myself and family.

Need to make changes to get higher salary

But if salary is least ur concern, ur company is quite good in terms of work life balance

most staff here who stay more than 10 years regard the work life balance as priority

Is it just me, or people with low pay don`t share theirs here?
because from the looks of the salary posted by members here, The numbers are high and I don`t think that`s the average salary for most people.

I might be wrong.

Anyways, here`s mine

==========

Job Title : R&D Technician
Job Description : System integration (I do more then expected compare to other technician, like same job as engineer). Report direct to manager. No one under me. I do my job, done, i go back home.
Years spent in company : 5
Company : Local
Industry : Defence / R&D / Aviation
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Fresh
Experience before joining : 0
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Diploma (electrical)
salary : 1.5 -> 1.6 -> 1.8 -> 2k -> 2.3k -> 2.5k
Location: KL

others:
Working hours: 8 hours 5 days a week
Bonus : 1-2 months
Just completed my degree (electrical) and would expect a raise of RM300-500 maybe. I don`t know.
Age: 27 (worked straight after diploma + part time studies) - studies paid by company.

I believe you can get alot better than staying put. Don't get comfy staying at one place. Throw yourself out to interviews and things, get the first hand experience of how much you might be able to earn outside. We can give you sky high salary, or salary that you wish to get now but you will not feel that ohm unless you receive an offer with higher pay. wink.gif

Job Title : corporate and business strategy (exec) cum Special Officer to Managing Director
Job Description : Business Management/Consulting
Years spent in company : 3
Company : Local
Industry : Themepark and Attractions
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Fresh
Experience before joining : 0
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Diploma (Computer Network)
salary : 2 k + 500 allowances
Location: Melaka

Am i underpaid ?
*
I believe is abit slight underpaid. Can throw yourself out for interview and secure an offer, then you can compare and contrast. Living cost in Melaka is getting higher and higher. Is better for you to secure better pay jobs before you suffer in later years.

Iphone 6S+? 16gb? 64gb? 128gb? Bro, you don't share, how we know how much you earn? These three category makes a huge difference. sweat.gif If skeptical of letting people know your salary then might as well keep it to yourself. doh.gif

Your previous experience does not even related to BA. How did you get hold on this position? The salary wise is quite gooding considering your age. I believe the longer you stay in the company, you can climb the corporate ladder and gain better earning. wink.gif

Thanks for the advice.

As for how I got this job, it was a career move from Toshiba Tec as a technical writer. While I was working as a technical writer I was already doing BA work like POC,req gathering in software development for CRM.

Not really. A lot of MNC also practice the same. They didnt give very high increment unless the staff made a move from technician to engineer level.
I was in a foreign bank, the yearly increment quite slow, but they did provide a lot of employee career growth benefits etc. Promotion is based on seniority, performance, certification, which is review annually. From clerk promote to officer, the salary jump could be a few thousands.
Comfort zone or not is depends on how you think. Royalty give extra marks for people when comes to candidate selection. Some small enterprise willing to pay higher than the market rate, but they never take staff career growth into their business plan. Some people said that staffs from MNC are better in english communication. And I have seen a lot of MNC stipulated that they prefer MNC background whenever there any new intake.
Just my 2 cents.
