QUOTE(icemessenger @ Jan 13 2016, 11:42 PM) Few days ago TM called and offered me to upgrade from current 10Mbps to 30Mbps, I agreed but the lady said I will have to wait for a few days, that I will receive an email from TM stated that the service has been upgraded bla bla bla. I got that email this morning, asking me to restart the router. I did, but when tried to download some files, it was super slow. However, after I turned on the VPN, walao eh super fast. I'm wondering what's wrong here. I have to use it together with the VPN? Or is it bcos I am still using the default TM router? Which sites were you trying on? Some YouTube videos are faster with VPN. Also what's the speed captured on Speedtest? WiFi or LAN? Using Google DNS?

Vip5-20 use symmetrical tech while 30-50mbps use asymmetrical tech. A lot people complain regarding asymmetrical tech currently and tm trying to fix it stage by stage. Oh I just randomly visited some sites. One big problem with VPN is that I cannot open those China websites, such as film.qq.com (I'm using SpotFlux) Wifi, speed test showing the following results: Download speed: 27.34 Mbps Upload speed: 5.53 Mbps Yes, using Google DNS

Anyway, the speed is 80% more than the promised speed. Can try LAN if you are not using it and retry again, else it could be router issue.

A lot people complain regarding asymmetrical tech currently and tm trying to fix it stage by stage. It will be great if TM can offer as add-on for a reasonable fee to increase upload speed to 10Mbps & 20Mbps.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 13 2016, 11:37 PM) They just rolled out Advance Plan and start to enhance the speed. I'm also waiting for 100Mbps. da clever minister promised faster speed without additional costs. We'll see. I doubt our infrastructure tho.

hi guys, i need your opinion. the signal in my room is weak, i was in a dilemma to replace a better router or just get a wireless repeater. after some studies of my own, i think i would go for repeater because it's more budget and also because the actual distance between the router and room isn't far, so i believe the repeater is enough for the job. can anyone tell me exactly how the repeater works. is the repeater working as a secondary router? if yes, that means my connection will come from repeater before it sourced internet from router? so will the connection also be less stable? or anyone of you think it's a waste better buy a new router?

Repeater = sniff the signal from your router and retransmit it to you. The downside to it is that you will lose at least half of your speed(because the repeater is acting as the middleman between you and router). Its better for you to get a new router. State your budget and forumers here will recommend a decent one for you This post has been edited by wcypierre: Jan 14 2016, 04:32 AM
