very very informative and interesting read.good thing to be stumbled upon at the right moment imo.thanks for the ts for another good thread nod.gif

well here goes nothing:

no sugar coating it i myself am a bit lost but i have picked up the important pts highlighted trough out the thread and after much musing trough come down to 1(??few ) psu that i am really interested.

none other then the CM Silent Pro Gold 600W(any known issues, problems, appraisals that is associated with this one??besides the ones i have read on the reviews in the net wch i pun x fully paham)

some of the hardware i will be running :
normal mobo
intel p4 qx6800(do we need to include the cpu cooler pwr req in here?its fans etc)
2x normal sata hdd (7200 rpm kot)
4x 12 cm led fans
1x dvd-rw
1x gts250 /// and just for future upgrading purposes lets say a gtx5xxTi replaces the gts250
4x dd2 normal ram

ok now comes the 2nd interesting part, price(gets every one from buyer+seller notched up a bit).so im not sure of what the CM psu is selling so a range should suffice per say RM450-RM490

so will this be sufficient??ive used the above on the cm site calculator and it says the min i need is 476W(the calculator x dak options for fans) and last but not least would this be good option or are there any other psu brand that will fit the above mould and maybe who knows save me a dollar or 2 along the way.

For your system, any 500/550W true power will do just fine smile.gif

600W Gold is slightly over-kill sweat.gif

hoo really ka...pheww ohmy.gif ...so per say then choosing a 500-550W with a bronze or silver certification would be good??the only reason im suddenly excited by the certification is due the 1st post on the thread kohkoh.efficiency and all just poisoned me lol tongue.gif

The difference in efficiency between the Silver efficiency certificate and the Bronze efficiency certificate is negligible. Unless you're willing to spend an extra amount of money on a Silver efficiency certified power supply over a Bronze efficiency rated power supply to save some extra cash on your electrical bills, then stick to the cheaper one, unless the ones which are 80 Plus Silver are also considerably cheap or the price difference isn't too big smile.gif.

ooo... thought so the bronze and silver too near(mcm olympic medal).will the electricity usage be that much with out the certification, i mean say the gold one and the bronze/silver one of the same watts.i read numbers posted at the 1st page and still a bit confused.is this some kind of placebo effect you said in the previous page??i.e the certification only offers silent operating but still the electricity consumed is the same?

The certification is to indicate how efficient the power supply can handle the power it draws from the power socket where it's plugged to. The higher its efficiency, the less electricity that it draws is wasted as heat and more is converted to power that can be used by the computer. For example, a 75% efficiency power supply that generates 300W of internal power would draw roughly 400W of power from the wall. Is it definitely not a placebo effect and the better the certification e.g Silver over Bronze, Gold over Silver and Platinum over Gold, the less power is wasted, the less heat is generated, and yes, the more silent the power supply would be as there's less heat; the fan is not required to spin at higher speeds to dissipate the heat.

hoo so the certification is another factor to consider.reverting to my earlier post then, a bronze/silver 550w should be more then enough for my system or still for indulgence the gold one with 600w is too much but it will pay itself in the form of lower electricity bills????thx biggrin.gif

Well, having a power supply that can supply an amount of wattage which is more than what you require is a good idea rather than having one that supplies just enough for the entire system.

Do note that power supplies degrades over time, and as they degrade, their ability to supply their rated power decreases smile.gif.

If you can afford the 600W power supply with the gold certification, why not? wink.gif

Acbel carry lifetime warranty for the PSU smile.gif So I think 650W 80Plus @ RM249 is a good buy

400W 80Plus perhaps the ST40F-ES? hmm.gif

How good? it is a very good PSU, just maybe the price is a little bit too steep if you import one here. laugh.gif
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817116012, $179. Should be around RM600+ if you import one back here. And do take note that the Seasonic X-850W is RM659 only, and it comes with warranty.

IINM, the newer Hale90 doesn't come with sleeved cables, unlike the older one.

Thanks for reply. Glad to know that it is a good PSU.
i can somehow get NZXT Hale90 1000W ship here for RM 865 including shipment & postage to my location.
Is this a good deal or bad? rclxub.gif

BTW, i believe i'm okay with non sleeved cables, but it must be modular or fully modular PSU, easier for upgrade!

Slightly expensive, you can get the Silverstone Strider Gold 1000W for around RM800.
that is why you can't find NZXT Hale90 locally, it is a risk for the distributor if they bring it in.

I have a buddy of mine who is also using NZXT Hale90 1000W,

Actually, I have made my mind, if the quality is good, i will take it!
Which is good according to you, since i cant find review for 1000W.

That is exactly the setup Im thinking of right now!
If the cables arent sleeved, i guess i gonna have to spend more for premium cable. doh.gif

Anyway, thanks for reply. notworthy.gif
