should be around the same...even thought not totally same..coz depend on the efficiency of the PSU also...some have 75% efficiency, some have 80% or more...so you do the math lo.. icon_rolleyes.gif  laugh.gif

PC PNC (now OCZ) makes very high quality product which based on server/workstation quality standards. Their PSU delivers stable power output almost zero ripples. I'm not really keen to that type of model because it uses 80mm fan which makes it noisier than others. If u really like PC PNC then pick Silencer product line, more efficient and queiter.
Answer for your questions:
1) if your PC power consumption is 500W, it will draw much more because the PSU isnt 100% efficient. Let say your PSU has 80% eff, then it will suck the power from TNB around 625W.
2) Choosing UPS depends on total power consumption of your PC (Speaker+Monitor+CPU).

Slightly different because dependencies are based on PSU efficiency and hardware power consumption.

EDIT
Vantec change to OCZ

im deciding over which to get now
vantec 430watt VS acbel E2 510w VS gigabyte superb 550w

a few plus points i found during my research

vantec:
- ~rm215
-fully sleeved (blue) + matte brush stroke black casing (good visual)
-22A rating on 12V
-2yrs warranty
-rather new.....no review yet from local user.....but there is one from hardwarezone.sg

acbel:
-~rm170
-limited lifetime warranty
-well known for its performance and very much recomended
-18A rating for 12V

gigabyte:
-~rm210
- *black casing + fully sleeved* (no actual pic yet....based on my email to gigabyte website)
--18A rating for 12V
-manufactured by ACBEL....for GIGABYTE (x-bit lab review)
-1yr limited warranty

p/s: wish i could have included review sites and pics but i replied tis thread in d fast reply box onli......too lazy =P

I'm planning to buy a Cooler Master Extreme Power 550W PSU. However, I'm having second thoughts after reading the sea of complaints regarding the noise it makes (apparently it is as loud as a fighter jet).

Some claim that the fan is always at full blast while others claim that the fan blade is hitting the PSU grille.

Any Cooler Master Extreme Power owners out there who can verify these claims??

I'm planning to run this PSU together with an AMD Athlon X2 4600+, XFX 9600GT 512 MB, 1 HDD and 1 DVD-RW.

dude,

run your pc on safe mode
-check your pc for viruses
-check your hard disk for any error
-might be due to corrupted OS/driver problem/problematic applications.. simply formatting might solve your problem

if doesnt work then might be hardware related problem.  -RAM, PSU, etc

both acbel PS2 i-power 510 and e2 power 510 has 450w of true power. PS2 i-power 510 is better because it has  a 120 mm and honeycomb ventilation, where as e2 510 has a 80 mm fan. Basically if u want to know any PSU run at its rated true power, u need to run a special test called load test.

Hi guys, is having a large single 12V rail really better than multiple rails? I'm considering getting either:

1. OCZ STEALTHXSTREAM 600W PSU OCZ600SXS; or

2. PC Power & Cooling 61EPS 610W

After reading some reviews, both come highly recommended and the main differences I can tell are that PCPNC uses better components and also the single rail, but reviewers don't seem to put much emphasis on the single rail feature. Is it something I should consider?

mean the most it can output is 600W...but for powerlogic psu, when it load till output 600W, it will be overload already...and ur hardware will be in danger... when buy psu, always look for true power one...dun look at the peak power...check out the first few post in this thread to understand more... icon_rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

hmm...might but i not sure. anyway do you that willing to endanger your other pc part by saving a few hundred? no right?

acbel E2 510 may serve RM 205. if you're in tight budget.
or acbel i-power 510.
or else silverstone 560w or other equivalent product.

basically i don't support cm extreme power.. extreme power series concern on +5v and +3.3v rail but not +12v rail. in the end it might not have enough amp for +12v rail.

since cm extreme power din give exact amount for +12v rail, sorry, i can't tell you whether it can support or not.

*what i know is based on the factory label to find out whether the psu is good enough to support the pc or not. you may wait for more experience ppl to tell you.

Both are very good PSU. But PC PNC is better. If you got the cash, PC PNC is way to go.
