Dear current Xbox360 owners, any ideas when the new batches of Xbox360 will be out? I mean with the 65nm technology which is supposed to rectify the overheating problem? Should I wait till March 2007 then I make the purchase? unsure.gif

IIRC the production date have been push back to summer 2007. even after they start the 65nm production you'll have to wait till the old stock finish before shop restock the new batch. maybe end of 2007? laugh.gif

I think MS will release the new revision quietly. If they make a big fuss about the rollout date for the new revision before it actually hit the shelves, people will hold out on buying the console for the time being and MS/retailers will be left with a crap load of unwanted consoles laugh.gif

ahh, very true. even if they start the production they'll probably will wait till all the retailers stock are low before shipping out the new batch.

so Zaryl, unless you don't mind waiting 6-12 months, i suggest you get the DOA-4 pack, included extra controller and one free game. that already worths few hundreds.

My final exam starts today. After exam finishes, I'm going to buy Lost Planet & R6V. Hopefully internet (and Xbox Live) speed will be restored by then.

Following up on what I stated above, I have to say that the visual quality of HD DVD is amazing! I have to say, the difference compared to standard definition DVDs is considerable. It's not just the cleanliness of the picture; there's also overall increased detail in pretty much everything. Comparing the DVD version with the HD DVD version is a real eye opener. Kinda like how it was when I watched my first DVD ever back in 2000. I'll be on the hunt for even more HD DVDs from now on...

Hollywood Surprised By Xbox Video Marketplace
QUOTE
The push for HD has come from all corners of media, but actually accessing high-definition content isn't so simple -- the amount of people with HD televisions running standard-definition content is staggering. But Hollywood's initial investment into Microsoft's service has proved a profitable one, as its direction connection to the TV means there's no technical wizardry needed to move a computer-downloaded film onto the TV. Do I really expect my mom to figure out DVD burning? I can't even figure it out.

No official numbers have been released, but sales trackers report movies like Poseidon, which performed poorly during their box office run, are doing well on Xbox Live -- thanks to the availability of a HD version. It's cheaper and more convenient than tracking down a HD-DVD drive and wondering whether you're supposed to buy Blu-ray discs or not.

Hi, just want to ask regarding HD DVD, how does the regional coding work?

I mean does it follow your xbox machine or does it follow the drive? What regions are there? is the region similar to blu-ray where US and the rest of south east asia, japan etc are the same? or region-free?(temporary?)

Thanks

The movies you can watch depends on your XBOX console region. Not the HD DVD player.

At the moment HD DVD does not have any region coding. Existing HD DVD players (including the 360 HD DVD drive) and HD DVD titles do not have any regions assigned to them. Except for the HD-DVD/DVD combo titles, where the DVD version has a region assigned.

But seeing the conflicting statement here, what do you mean really? Do you mean that the drive has no region at all ? kind of like how some of the dvd playes are region 0 (which as i know has some(little- a few movies maybe) compatibility issues with discs of
other regions?

thinking wether or not to buy a hd-dvd drive, seeing that some of my fav movies are coming out on it (lotr)
