Hmm. They must have discovered that people were using this previous loophole to put with them for 3 months, then close account after that. Guess they rugi quitee a lot with many people exploiting this loophole. From the T&C so don't think joint account works Previously one can do as I wrote and get extra 5% by opening joint account with gf/wife/brothers /sisters /parents/uncles/aunties. QUOTE(lowya @ Oct 21 2015, 01:33 PM) Yes, I changed to 4.6% 2 years already.Lost 2 day interest (Monday & Tuesday). But the gain of 0.05% (4.6% - 4.55%) can cover the loss of 2 days interest, after deduct the loss, still have profit left. But the most important issue is to shorten the tenure, 2 years instead of 5 years. But who knows OPR will drop later..? Just take it as a gamble since nobody knows the future, if OPR goes up, you make less; if OPR goes down, you make more. Anyway put in FD will not lose money. I think you maintain your 5 years 4.55%..? |

QUOTE(lowya @ Oct 21 2015, 05:21 PM) no, i just changed to same as you 4.6%, without fresh fund added, approved by branch manager. Oh..I did not add in any fresh fund either. in 2 years time, we shall discuss this again haha.. Am Bank withdrew the old 4.55% cert, and replaced a new FD cert with 4.6%. The staff from Raja Chulan has double confirmed that Am Bank pays interest for Sunday, hopefully what she said was right. Sure, we will talk about our Am Bank FDs in 2 years later.. |

Hey guys, can anyone recommend a FD package for 1 year placement with the following requirements:
1) PIDM protected 2) No CASA 3) Preferably no need to open savings account but not a must I have done my research, seems that only UOB fulfills all of the above? Ambank 4.2% for 12 months has this term in the T&C: - Interest / Profit earned will be credited to the Eligible Customer’s designated Conventional or Islamic Current Account or Savings Account (CASA/CASA-i) maintained with the Bank. Does that mean that it has the CASA bullcrap too? This post has been edited by JustForFun: Oct 21 2015, 07:44 PM |

QUOTE(JustForFun @ Oct 21 2015, 07:30 PM) Hey guys, can anyone recommend a FD package for 1 year placement with the following requirements: No. Is not the crappy stuff where you need to deposit xx% into CASA. CASA here is for them to credit interest into. I think it just cost rm20 to open a normal basic account? Of course why opt for basic savings when you can use Truesavers to earn an additional 2.8% on the interest of the FD? 1) PIDM protected 2) No CASA 3) Preferably no need to open savings account but not a must I have done my research, seems that only UOB fulfills all of the above?
