Sifus, my front absorbers are making the squeaking sound whenever I go over the hump. What will be the damage to get this replaced? And do we install the same type of absorbers or there are better options for our pug? I always wondered if 2.0 and 1.6T 408 are using the same absorber or not? Cz I know 2.0 feels softer n more comfort(from my testdriving years ago). So the stiffness in our 1.6T is bcz of different spring rate? Or our entire suspension system is different from 2.0? Appreciate some information on this wink3.gif

There's a whole range in shock absorbers. It all depends what's your preference & price varies accordingly.

Some of us feel THP suspension setup is a little harsh. This is great for handling but its at the expense of comfort. If you are looking for greater comfort, its advisable to change shocks + springs. if you want greater handling, that also possible. Price varies on choice.

Normally replacing the absorber mounting would fix the issue.
Yes 2.0 strut is softer but they are interchangeable with 1.6T. Spring rate are different though.

Thank you for the info

Is it possible to have comfort and good handling, i think 407 falls in this handling criteria right? Any speciality shop i can go to get a good suspension set up? Can Bros Auto do this?

407 is a timeless design, it lives forever. It has good handling, not sure about comfort level. In the sense , is it better than 408thp! One thing which it certainly lacks is power.

Comfort against handling is always a trade off one against another. However it is possible to reach a happy medium. 408thp suspension being sports tuned is a very level of handling, like a sports car! As i dont tear down the road like a F1 drive, decided to compromise handling to comfort. I had decided on changing to softer absorbers , springs & higher profile tyres. Started to use 50 profile Goodyear Excellence tyres. Comfort has improved 20%. I'd say handling remains the same for my style of driving, even fast corners. When I need to change absorbers will change springs too.

Yes you can consult Bros Auto. They'll give you proper advise!

I have been thinking to fit lower spring for 408 NA. Quoted with installation fee about RM1.1k for the Vogtland spring (for 308). Understand that changing the spring without the changing the correct absorbers to match the lower spring would damage the stock absorbers. Any have changed to lower sport spring? Any comment?

Another thing, can this cataclean additive really work to clean the deposits built up in catalytic converter?

Yes mismatched spring & absorber will cause damage to absorber. It's best to get some professional advise!

This cabon cleaner additive works on piston only. Since its added to fuel, the vales do not get cleaned. Quite alot of carbon builds up behind valve area. That needs to be cleaned also. My sggestion would be walnut blast. I'm waiting on interstate travell lift. Already made appointment at Renautech for walnut blast with major service.

Yes 408NA is a DI engine.PSA has stopped production of this engine.Prince is further developed for a wider use.

But don't know the future of any IC engine in Europe. All ICs are banned in CBD area from 2025!

I only know 408 NA is 16-valve VVT catalyst engine. I guess the engine model is EW10A. Don't think it's a DI engine cos the pickup very slow haha

Hahaha actually you are right, I go thru so many road blocks but police dont care also. But at the same time I dont wanna cari pasal with JPJ also.
I actually did it myself. Only hard part is to remove the lense, I use hair drier only, hahaha. Oh, and be sure to get the sealant ready if you gonna diy. Cz when u reattach the lense, u need to apply new sealant, if not sure moisture will get it. And also, be very careful with the plastics parts of the light assembly, can easily crack.

Thank you so much for the info. Yes I plan to get my suspension done at bros. And waiting for my Primacy 3St to wear out properly(these touring tires actually can last longer in my experience), then I'm gonna chg my profile from 50 back to 45. Hehehe.

45 profile will reduce comfort. I'd suggest keeping to 50 profile!
