Hi fellow Peugeot owners, I owned a 2016 Peugeot 408 1.6 Turbo. Recently I experience something funny with the car and would like to seek fellow sifus advice. Let's say if my car fuel is half or less than half tank, with that if I take a right turn at moderate speed of about 50 to 70 km/h ( like turning off from highway), my car will pull back, for 1 sec or 2, it feels like no power and going to stall, but recovers. This doesnt happen when I make a left turn, or if the fuel is more than half tank. I suspect that it could be my HPFP, yet to get it checked at workshop due to PKP. I hope sifus here can enlighten me a bit. Im sorry if this was discussed earlier in the forum, Im new in this platform.

QUOTE(wjchay @ Jan 17 2021, 12:44 PM) Hi guys, I would just like to share that after changing tires to 225 50 17, my 408t feels much more comfortable now. Yes I did that too, actually still running on series 50. But the next tire chg Im getting back the series 45. I agree it's more comfortable now, but The steering feels a bit heavier than normal, also at higher than 150, it loses a bit of stability. I miss those sharp corners now |

QUOTE(jiunkei_46 @ Jan 22 2021, 04:47 PM) i guess ABS sensor kong is norm, at least once need to replace.. i have all 4 replaced before, some under warranty, some i bought the parts myself and get the mechanic to replace it. Oh yeah, sorry I missed out that. They suspect it's the low pressure pump based on the symptoms. But it's not failed permanently, so I think Im just gonna use till it's gone btw, did they check for you the issue you mentioned about the power loss thing? |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Jan 26 2021, 10:47 AM) Yes I strongly suspect faulty HPFP. HPFP is a recall item. If you haven't changed have to wait a while. ATM Bemax is not entertaining any recalls. They are very busy on take over and setup! Do you really think it's the HPFP? Im well aware this is a recall unit and mine is not changed yet. But my symptoms are only when im taking a corner, so it's the shift of the fuel in my tank that makes the low pressure pump to stop working for a moment ( or lose vacuum). HPFP is mounted near the engine right, and if Im not wrong, this HPFP mainly for high pressure demand and wont be affected by the shift of the fuel in the tank. Well all this diagnose was done by the mech at Bros Auto. Please tell me if im right bro Yea heard about the changeover. Kia is also going through similar chg now. Currently got few issues, those free services that were promised when u purchased KIA car can now only be claimed at the same outlet where you bought the car. And warranty claims for any component will also take longer time to process. My wife drives a KIA |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Feb 3 2021, 06:30 PM) Frankly its very difficult to say exactly from reading a symptom. I could be wrong here! I would believe Bros Auto, they are experienced and excellent with Pugs! Yes I agree, preventive maint is so crucial for our baby lions I am also waiting on HPFP recall. Luckly no issues with my car at present. However since 8 years already, think I better change the HPFP as preventive measure. |

QUOTE(djboycalvin @ Feb 5 2021, 10:22 AM) QUOTE(SKYjack @ Feb 6 2021, 10:13 AM) King of Rims in Shah Alam have a wide choice. I'd be surprised if you can't find something you like with them. You can use Wase or google. Thank you you two. I went to kings of rim and met Jeff. He showed me 3 options for our car. All 3 looked better than my stock rim😄. So i took the matt black ones. I like the look of my car nw. I mean i like it more now la😬😬. This new rim offset is +25, compare to the stock +32. So it is not so inside the wheel well now. I'll share some picts later.Btw, they do excellent work in restoring old battered rims like new! Thank you again sifus. |

QUOTE(Chekusan2019 @ Feb 6 2021, 10:16 AM) Actually i had this worry when i had the fault code very recently. It was the famous ESP n ABS fault code. Apparently it can be the ABS sensors or the ECU itself😰But thank God it was two rear ABS sensors. From that diagnostic check, i know ECU has got no issues...yet. but if fuel pump, especially low pressure ones fail, no fault code will be generated. U just cant start yr car anymore😅😅 |

Sifus, my front absorbers are making the squeaking sound whenever I go over the hump. What will be the damage to get this replaced? And do we install the same type of absorbers or there are better options for our pug? I always wondered if 2.0 and 1.6T 408 are using the same absorber or not? Cz I know 2.0 feels softer n more comfort(from my testdriving years ago). So the stiffness in our 1.6T is bcz of different spring rate? Or our entire suspension system is different from 2.0? Appreciate some information on this

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Mar 1 2021, 11:35 AM) There's a whole range in shock absorbers. It all depends what's your preference & price varies accordingly. Is it possible to have comfort and good handling, i think 407 falls in this handling criteria right? Any speciality shop i can go to get a good suspension set up? Can Bros Auto do this? Some of us feel THP suspension setup is a little harsh. This is great for handling but its at the expense of comfort. If you are looking for greater comfort, its advisable to change shocks + springs. if you want greater handling, that also possible. Price varies on choice. |

QUOTE(djboycalvin @ Mar 2 2021, 01:26 PM) haha no worry bro, i think those police not really concern on it .. Hahaha actually you are right, I go thru so many road blocks but police dont care also. But at the same time I dont wanna cari pasal with JPJ also.Been survey to retrofit my headlamp also so costly .. wondering to DIY but after some youtube tutorial i found it abit risky .. btw you DIY retrofit ? or send to shop ? how much ya ? I actually did it myself. Only hard part is to remove the lense, I use hair drier only, hahaha. Oh, and be sure to get the sealant ready if you gonna diy. Cz when u reattach the lense, u need to apply new sealant, if not sure moisture will get it. And also, be very careful with the plastics parts of the light assembly, can easily crack. |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Mar 3 2021, 10:20 AM) 407 is a timeless design, it lives forever. It has good handling, not sure about comfort level. In the sense , is it better than 408thp! One thing which it certainly lacks is power. Thank you so much for the info. Yes I plan to get my suspension done at bros. And waiting for my Primacy 3St to wear out properly(these touring tires actually can last longer in my experience), then I'm gonna chg my profile from 50 back to 45. Hehehe.Comfort against handling is always a trade off one against another. However it is possible to reach a happy medium. 408thp suspension being sports tuned is a very level of handling, like a sports car! As i dont tear down the road like a F1 drive, decided to compromise handling to comfort. I had decided on changing to softer absorbers , springs & higher profile tyres. Started to use 50 profile Goodyear Excellence tyres. Comfort has improved 20%. I'd say handling remains the same for my style of driving, even fast corners. When I need to change absorbers will change springs too. Yes you can consult Bros Auto. They'll give you proper advise! |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Mar 24 2021, 09:36 AM) You really think so? I've been contemplating on this. Yes I did gain comfort with series 50. At the same time I also felt slight loss of stability at corners (but i still tekan/layan corners from time to time lolz). Maybe bcz my tires are touring tires. Ok SKYjack, i think I'm gonna follow your advide, maintain series 50, but maybe get a better perfomance tires (been thinking about MC6 or SP4). |

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Mar 26 2021, 10:18 AM) I'm sure you know RV for any Pug is very low, likely less than $15K for your model! I've decided to keep my 2012thp as 2nd car for the family to use. Maintenance is reasonable at Pug independent workshops. I'm actually going to do some preventive maintenance next week. That should keep it running well. Good fc. I've yet to do long distance with my pug😔. Hopefully after travel ban is listed🤞Last month ran up to Penang. No issues , managed to get 7.5 ltrs/100 doing 150kmh. |
